Surely that costume is aimed at women?! It doesn't make sense so to hear a group of crusties complaining makes me think that they don't really understand why they are offended.

There's always someone being offended over innocuous stuff. People can't just be allowed to have some fun anymore can they?

    F*cking SJWs strike again.

Anyone who told me and others that we were exaggeratin the threat to freedom posed by these muppets in the thread about them a few weeks ago, take note.

I see nothing wrong with it. I work with two transgender (one M to F and one F to M) and it doesn't raise an eyebrow.

Nature is not all black and white.

They'll be selling two for the price of one in November.

    What a stupid, ugly costume.

Why is there a flap to reveal the "penis?" A flap!
"Gee guys, I think our hilarious 'ladyboy' costume is too subtle. I know the guy has a beard and visibly fake breasts, but people still might think it's a woman."
"I know, let's add a flap for the cock to hang out of, then people will know it's really a man!"
    "Genuis!!"

Hur dur, ya tink it's a lad dressed as a bird, but den ya find out it's a fella dressed as a fella dressed as a bird cos he has a lad hangin' out. Out of his flap.

I don't particularly care if this being removed from Amazon impinges on people's freedom (and I'm sure it's available elsewhere) as it's such a tacky, moronic and unfunny costume.

    Amazon you scamp!

Damn! Now what am I going to wear for Halloween.

Cant' be that difficult to make your own. Jut get a wig and a dress and, eh, cut a hole in the front....

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭whatdoicare

Looks like a costume that is standard stag night attire. See nothing offensive about it. Stupid thing to get offended over.

Saw once there were people complaining about girls costumes being too girly and not authentic like the boys costume version. Eg girly cop, girly surgeon, girly fireman, same as boys only with a tutu skirt and jewellery.
So buy the boy version so, ffs. Just because its in the boy section doesn't mean the buy now button wont work!

If they have removed this, then they need to remove the Cecil the lion, Priest and altar boy, Jennier costume, etc. Can't pick and choose what your offended by

It's the willy that makes it funny.

It's as funny as stags wearing those plastic breasts.

Though frankly I find the whole men dressing as women for a laugh thing to be chronically unfunny, worse than Christmas jumpers.

Always wondered why the English seem to enjoy it so much. Maybe it's a music hall throwback thing. But there was always a streak of silly titillating stuff in their humour, in many of their comedians etc. that is IMHO different to us.

I thought that "made it" in England and was on an English tv channel?

Was thinking more like all those acts like Danny la Rue and camp performers over the decades that just wouldn't have made it here. Maybe it's a sign of open mindedness, I just don't find it funny.

Don't really know enough about it to be honest, I just remember it sounding Irish. Then again I don't really watch tv..

I'm in full agreement about not finding it funny. It puerile and crass.

You can blame the costume for that, for not actually being fun.
OK, I can accept that for some people out there this might be funny, but I personally can't fathom an adult looking at this, thinking it's funny, and deciding to spend money on it so everyone can see them wearing it.

Oh you can these days TV. Depends how loud you shout. Take the kiddie fiddler priest costume and I'd bet a fair chunk of those whinging about this tacky costume would think it only highlarious, yet it potentially insults a billion catholics, but sail close to offending a teeny group(most of whom won't give a toss) and out come those offended on their behalf. To be fair the priest one is clever in execution.
Cant' be that difficult to make your own. Jut get a wig and a dress and, eh, cut a hole in the front....
I'd need a muscle suit under it as well.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Suppose it is a bit off to be fair, but it does have a willy.I defy anyone not to find that funny.

Anyone who told me and others that we were exaggeratin the threat to freedom posed by these muppets in the thread about them a few weeks ago, take note.

Complaining about a costume that one finds offensive is hardly SJW tyranny. People should be free to register their gripes, just as retailers like Amazon are free to either pull the item or ignore the complaints and continue selling it. Regardless of whether it's ten people or ten million people shouting to have it removed, it's ultimately Amazon's decision whether to sell it or not.

Personally I don't care if they sell it or not but I do think the costume is mindnumbingly unfunny and appeals to the lowest common denominator. It baffles me how anyone could justify spending that much money on something so damn tacky.

Honestly I think there's value in a thing like this. It's like a big red flag that says "I'm a stupid, unfunny prick who reckons he's "wacky" and "absolutely, like, mad" and probably ends sentences with "simples". Do not waste time on getting to know me, this is all there is".

It's subtler than the actual flag and the genius part is they put it on themselves.

No one's been banned from wearing such a costume, so the cries of "but what about FREEEEEDDDDOOOOM" and "SJW oppression" are nonsense.

The same gobshhites doing the complaining here then see nothing problematic about, say, a burqa, actually being banned in several countries. But yeah sure it's all about the freedom, and nothing to do with point-scoring against the PC boogeyman...

I dont think its overly offensive, don't find the costume very funny though..bit obnoxious really. We all know the exact type that would wear something like that, a loud mouth arrogant cnut

It's a night dress with a cock flap folks ffs. The self righteousness sneers are a tad misplaced.

If Kenny Everett was alive you's would have him hung.

All I can think about is the model. Spotted on the street by some agent at about 17, told the world was at his feet and gleefully signed up. After the first big payout modelling some Cedarwood State shirts for Primark, he quits school and goes whole hog into the modelling thing, but as his boyish looks fade he discovers its a competitive industry. With precious few options, he moves into modelling novelty goods and has been quietly getting by on the money from those and pretending to everyone that he's doing much bigger things.
Until today, that is, where a shoot for a stupid piece-of-sh*t halloween costume becomes an international media story and he's pictured in every article for it.

Regardless of his story, he must be delighted.

While I wouldn't have taken it off the shelves myself, slightly worrying by the amount of people who think the costume is "hilarious". Probably the same people who think a hen on her hen night carrying around a blow up doll is hilarious.

Surely you need proof of this or you are just engaging in a straw man argument.

Literally any time the topic has come up, you have tons of people saying ban away in the name of freeing the oppressed women.

I am not a fan of burqas, I think they're weird and tbh kind of creepy, but you can't give someone freedom by telling them what they can't wear. A free society, which almost everyone seems to want here, is not one that goes around telling women what they should do, yet every single time this comes up, people think it's "upholding western values" to ban such items of clothing.
