I have shopped a bit on Ali Express and found a few decent bargains on small items like RB (rayban) sunglasses and Oakley (oakly).

Is there any interest in starting a thread with bargains others have found on this site?
Might help when looking for bargains if there are reputable stores that others can recommend.

When you order on the site does it actually turn up?

Is Ali express not all Chinese knock off stuff?

I believe post to the UK arrives sooner. Greater priority

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭Dard23

Yes I often buy bits and pieces, generic versions of branded items. Always arrived eventually but don't buy if you need stuff quickly. The featured deals sometimes have good offers.

I've bought some phone covers and replica football jerseys in the past and no problems. 4-6 weeks for delivery. If you're getting clothes be careful of sizes etc. Cheap and cheerful.

Everything would be considered knock off however I find the stuff grand e.g. Phone covers, ties etc etc.

I buy from tiny deal some really cheap stuff

Always use Parcel Motel for postage. It's safer and will cut down the minimum 4 week wait too 2 weeks.

Would actually be interested to know if someone could recommend a fitness tracker

What I find Aliexpress deadly for is Pokemon teddies. My daughter loves them and they're not so easy to pick up otherwise. The quality of them is pretty good and you can always find the most obscure ones she's guaranteed to ask for.

Memory cards on the other hand, well never buy memory cards from Aliexpress.

I don't see how it's safer and it might cost more than the stuff your buying along with the fact stuff gets sent separately even from the same seller, could end up costing loads.

If you want something fast don't use aliexpress, I nearly always have something in order from them and find them great value for stuff that costs a lot more here (and loads of things you won't even find for sale here). But I expect to wait a month and would double the price of in used parcel motel a lot of the time.

Obviously depends on what you're ordering.
If its something under €5 euro there's no point.
But if i'm ordering stuff off Ali it's normally replica gear (kits, shoes etc) which i want to have as soon as possible.

Its also twice as quick with PM. I've ordered loads of kits from there and your average postage time is 4 weeks using an post... I've had stuff within 1 week using PM.

What is the quality of the shoes like? I never knew these sites did clothing/shoes. I'm like a kid at Christmas browsing the shoe section here but a little worried about the quality even though the reviews seem very positive in general for most stuff.

For anyone who has bought jackets/shirts etc. Are the sizes generally OK?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 174 ✭✭Blankety

Aliexpress is great, I have ordered about 70 items from them through the app and paid by Alipay. Not a single item has not turned up in An post. I try to stay under €23 per order for vat and customs reasons but no item was ever stopped, even the higher value items around €60 sailed through.
However I did have one issue with some shoes where I got a 40% refund. I thought the seller was not being fair so for once I left negative feedback but it never appeared against the product. So read those buyer reviews with caution I don't think negative feedback from disputed items gets recorded against an item. Meaning the reviews are positively biased, seems strange from a country where freedom of expression is encouraged :)

Normally I search and sort by number of orders, real herd mentality but hopefully someone else has done the research. Typically 1/2 price compared to eBay.

Ha, I was wondering about that. In the men's casual shoe section alone their is over 140,000 different items

Shoes tend to be on the small side and narrow fitting, they are also US sizes. I'd go one size bigger than normal. Shirts are crazy small, at least 2 sizes smaller, if you are size 17 or more then you will struggle to get anything that suites.
As I said earlier the reviews are positively biased as disputed items seems not to have reviews posted. Overall worth a gamble.

What about stitching quality in tho clothing? Has everything seemed to be well cut and symmetrical and with decent material?
Also, could you recommend any decent products!?

All the shoes i've ordered have been great!
They're US sizes so you'll need to order a size up.

Pants,Shirts and other clothing are Asian sizes so they're very small fitting.

Yeah you'll be out of look in that size. I'm a size 11 but I can fit comfortably in 10.5

Have used Aliexpress loads of times and would highly recommend it ...... In particular the football strips for kids, (have bought Man United, Barca & Real Madrid - shirts & shorts with names/numbers) , you can get these sets for roughly 12 -15 Euro including delivery. Really excellent quality.... I would also filter sellers by quantity of orders and feedback as already mentioned.

Have ordered over 100times off AliExpress.

A couple of things from my experience that I'd share with you.

A common complaint is the time it takes for the stuff to arrive after ordering. To help minimize the shipping time, when selecting a seller to order from; take note of the shipping service they use, the estimated delivery time and the time it takes for the item to be shipped out. The last one is quite often overlooked, the transit time from China to Ireland in itself is approx a 3/4 weeks going by experience so people don't help themselves by ordering from a seller who ships within 30 days. My own personal rule of the thumb is to go with a seller that ships within 7 days or less.

Negative reviews only appear if the seller accepts them to be shown (which in 99% of cases they obviously won't)

Anyone order any iPad or lightning cables from there

Are you sure about that? Why would the seller ever accept a negative review? I have seen plenty of sellers with 85% feedback and plenty of negative feedback, why would they shoot themselves in the foot when they could have not let it be posted?

The best bargain I have bought on Ali so far is socks!
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fashion-Men-s-Socks-40-pcs-20-pairs-Cotton-Blends-Men-s-Sport-Ankle-Socks-For/32459897864.html

20 pairs for €10. They were €8 when when I bought them. You can choose from Nike, Adidas or Puma. They are thin ankle socks with webbing across the top which lets your feet breathe when you are wearing them. I must have bought about 60 pairs of them by now...

I'd say more like NiLe, Adipas and Puna

I love aliexpress, but you can't deny that most of its appeal lies in counterfeit goods (like the socks 2 posts up)....with cheap electronics a close second :)

What are the advantages of ordering through the app? I assume there is some bonus seeing as people keep mentioning it?

I know how to verify a real Adipas! :D Anyway, small electronic parts, plush toys and for western people unknown brands are quite cheap to get and perform well. Also like the socks you don't get original ones, you get sometimes leftover stuff or the factory then uses the samples they get from the brands to make more stuff and sell it themselves. Basically the same if you go to a market in Thailand and find those cheap articles.
Ordered quite a lot from aliexpress, even got my wedding ring from there, titanium custom engraved, 25 Euros, compared to 150 Euros where I found the cheapest option in Europe. So ordered two more with bigger sizes when my finger grows. :)

i've bought loads of stuff from Aliexpress, i've just bought most of the kids christmas stuff from there and it is nearly all here and looks great.

i've bought PJ's for the kids and hoodies etc.. once you get the grips with the sizes then your fine anyone who has been to one of those super discount stores in the US will know how the sizes work.

Have to say with two small girls the Princess dresses are good quality and hard wearing at a fraction of the price :)

the quality of the clothes are normally excellent the odd one would have a few loose threads but more than happy with the quality.

the sellers are normally very helpful and will answer any questions you have prior to buying (in decent broken english)

the App offers a littel extra off some items and you sometimes get coupons etc.. via the app

my wife has bought underwear sets from there and swears by it says its the best shes has ever owned at a fraction of the price.

as with any website that sells goods you need to do your homework, check youtube for reviews etc.. normall alot of the stuff will have videos especially the phones, i have a CUBOT brand phone and i have to say its excellent.

They are brilliant for the little stuff.
Screen protectors for phones for cents for example.

If you are not in a hurry they are the place to go.

They are trying to push people to the app by offering additional deals on things. If you're on the site you will often see get an extra discount by using the app. Always worth checking if you do see that!
