Some people are prone to it. For example, if I put on weight, you'll see it on my face for sure.

Others I know however, can put on significantly more but you'd never notice it on their face, just their bodies.

Personally, I like being this way, keeps me on my toes in relation to my body.

    You can't say that [
    S]to their faces[/S]
    .

It's definitely not in the genes. You'd be struggling to locate a single chin in photos of Irish people before the 80s.

Saw photos in museum in Kerry of American wakes in the 50s (big community dances before emigrating to USA). The only non skinny face was the parish priest.

And apparently, long before we started putting on the pounds, Ireland had the highest calorie intake in Europe.

So I'd suspect it has more to do with type of food/processed food and degree of inactivity than genes

It's not just double chins, it's double bellys and double arses too. It's even more alarming the amount of kids that are overweight.
It's down to processed foods, everyone driving everywhere and not walking, people not having time to prepare meals so they pick up a McDonald's, the convince of fast foods.
We're about 20 years behind America and we've a serious obiesity epidemic heading our way very soon.

I think Irish people by nature have bony narrow faces.

I think it's probably because people are eating too much food, and that it is not exclusively an Irish problem at all.

I passed by and made a note of the faces of 297 people today because research.

29 had 'chubby' faces, 45 had 'potentially chubby' faces, 105 were 'normal' and 18 were gaunt.

There were only 3 double chins but the high volume of hipster beards impeded the count here.

Not sure if it's in the genes generally speaking but in my case if I put on a bit of weight it goes straight on to my face before anywhere else. I'm quite slim but if I don't train for a while I end up with a very bloated looking face and a double chin. As above its probably a good thing as my vanity makes me keep a reasonable level of fitness.

Well the amount of Heroin addicts in Dublin kinda evens it out a bit. The amount of wasted faces in Dublin is scary. My South African was fascinated with the faces on Heroin addicts
