Done a small treble last night for Cheltenham.

    Faugheen
    Un Des Scaoux
    Douvan

Happy enough. They'll all win their first few races easily and shorten up.

    What odds the treble?

I backed Firebird Flyer for the Welsh Grand National,i posted it on the tips thread and the race was to be run on dec 27.
The meeting was abandoned and re-fixed for jan 9,i asked in Ladbrokes if the bet stands as I always thought if a race was not run within a week it was money back,i could not find out if the bet stands in lads so I would appreciate any info on this.
The ladbokes rule on the website is not clear on this exact situation.

I have the same bet with PP, presumed it would stand but haven't checked. Will ask them tomorrow.

I called into Boyles today and they said that ante post bet was still live. I dont know about Ladbrokes though.

It still stands with PP anyway. Don't know about others.

Will be throwing a few quid weekly on Don Cossack for the Gold Cup.

Think he has an absolutely huge chance after his KG run. And price wise, its slightly better for me that he fell!!

Save your cash Slatts, never the same horse at Cheltenham.

    Shut up !!

In fairness, the Ryanair never suited him and Cooper gave him a stinker, watch it again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭BumperD

Just watched the replay of Min's race yesterday. Doesn't have a big frame but if he turns up in the same form in March, he'll win by a country mile

He ran a stinker at Cheltenham the year before too.

He is grand when he can amble around and only has a few to jump at speed, a luxury he won't get in the Gold Cup. The quicker he goes the worse he jumps.

Hope so been on it since sept at 33/1 & 25/1 wouldn't touch it at the price it is at the moment.

Just curious, who was offering those prices? Biggest I see was 10 and 12/1 before he even ran

He was 25s somewhere, i looked it myself as the dogs and the birds were talking about Min during the summer

    Bollox, Don Cossack runs tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

1/8 to win, will he shorten much i wonder? Bastards dont need a reason to shorten :(

He's running tomorrow because he fell. If he wins by 20 lengths, he might shorten a point at the very most. The fact he needs a run to give him confidence speaks volumes. I looked at his two races a cheltenham, Elliott is running out of excuses, imo.

    Bollox.
Watch Cooper on him last year, shocking ride. Ran on really well.

No comment on his first run though :D

His KG was his best. Thats the race that matters, and only slipped, not a fall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

    Very happy with that.

Perfect round. Cheek pieces to be applied for the GC.

Cooper saying he's a different animal to last year and really needs a trip and better ground.

He's my new Jezki. We all know how that turned out.

    .

I did suggest head gear on the festive gargling thread Dec 26th , at least Gordon is taking my advice :)

He will need wings fitted at Cheltenham, you know so he gets over the fences without hitting them.

Don Cossack looked and jumper glorious after racing today.

Russell rode him, while Cooper rode a bit of work on Don Poli. Says a lot in my mind, but surprised Cooper would get off the GC fav.

Would be more than happy to have Davy on board.

He's got off him as he knows he won't be winning. DC always looks a million dollars. Looks don't win gold cups.

I'm beginning to think Cue Card might land the 1m bonus.

Did he have head gear on yesterday? I missed the gallops. The blinkers on gold cup day could work the oracle but I'm a doubter that he's able stay focused and his jumping is sketchy at times (I have been wrong before)

No he didnt wear any headgear. Elliott said they might not go that route after all, after saying he would a while back!!!!

Jumped super and took 1/2 length out of No More Heroes at each fence, really looked slick.

The clip is available on the ATR website/twitter account. Its the only clip they put up for some reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭BumperD

I searched atr main site last night for the clip and no joy. They've had it up in prior years. I'll give Twitter a go later.

Gordon, if your reading this, blinkers March 18th.

    Regards. Obeone Kenobe:)

Easy to look good doing work, going quicker his jumping unravels and he doesnt seem to like going left as much as right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Gold Cup winner there. Even Willie heard it was a quality piece of work.

Thought he was very impressive at Aintree. Think that's left handed? Maybe I'm wrong.

He won with damn all pressure on him. Cue Card was seriously wrong for the whole season.

For me Don is about 10lbs better going right and it would take some effort for him to win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

    10lbs ??? :D

Some effort in the KG so. Will murder CC and Vatour in the GC by that synopsis.

Lovely attempt at wit there buddy :D. But I think you mean he will have to find 10lbs at Cheltenham to be in contention with Vautour and CC, and Vautour is much better going left imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

So 10lb worse at Chelt or 10lb better going right handed?

    Or both now?

    :D

Just to clarify, Kempton is right handed and Cheltenham is left handed, enjoying the Guinness buddy :D

JUst read this on Twitter from Bill Esdaile

Gordon Elliott defended Don Cossack's Cheltenham record and described Bryan Cooper's ride on him in last year's Ryanair as diabolical !!

Elliott went on to say that 'we sat down with Bryan afterwards and talked it through with him. We are a team here.

It really was a piss poor hatchet job of a ride.

Having a few Carlsbergs myself, today I got offered a job in the company I have been trying to join for the last 2 years. Career change into IT.

I got home from work and the missus had steak, chips, gratin, mushrooms, onions, coke, carlsberg and icecream for me for dinner. Great day :D
