Just getting this started for 2015. Registration is open now at www.waterfordachalf.com. €25 + booking includes a hat, medal, goodie bag with chocolate milk, refreshments. AAI permitted club run event and fully insured.

Again this year I am involved in the organisation so can try answer any questions you might have.

As we are always looking to trend set this year we are offering an offical transfer process for people that need to transfer their numbers. Do note however we will only be accepting transfer through the offical process no ad hoc ones.

We are also offering free entry to elites and sub elites. Standards are sub 73 for men and sub 85 for women set for the half marathon distance over the last 2 years.

Have done this several times on the various courses, always an well put on event - make sure you keep a box of blahs to one side for the back of the pack :p

Any update on the proposed route change?

Signed up yesterday. Got a PB last year. Hopefully the course will be conducive to another PB this year:)

Looking forward to this again this year, trying to convince a few more from the club to travel down - always a good day out, especially being 5 weeks out from DCM - great to use that marathon training for an extra race :).

Have to say great facilities at start/finish and well organised, also waiting to see what the new course is like, that run up into the headwind at Ballybeg last year was tough!

Didn't see the date in the opening post there. Sorry if I missed it but what date is this on. Might just suit me.

    5th December. It's on a Saturday morning.

Fair play Waterford for allowing transfers. I think that too many races automatically don't allow this without ever really looking into it. IMHO it's a welcome step and will hopefully attract some extra runners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭Whatsthisabout

Still working through the route with the guards but hopfully we will have approval soon. We are restricted with where it starts and finishes as we are forced to cross some busy roads.

Transfers is a trial this year. We are just hoping that people don't take us have a process as an invitation to ad hoc transfer. The process can only work if it is followed.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone know what colour hat they're going with?!

Any recommended 10k for preparation to this race in Waterford?

Can't find any: Dublin Marathon seems to be eating everything in its path...

Anyone know when the cut-off date for registration is? Want to wait and see how the legs are after DCM before committing to this.

November 20th or if we hit 2000 entries whichever comes first. I'll be putting the revised course up tomorrow.

We published the route on www.waterfordachalf.com now. The main change to last year is between mile 9 and 10. There is also a change to the first mile. We did our best to keep it as close to last year as possible however in order to get the approvals to proceed we had to make a few changes.

Signed up earlier. Really enjoyed my first time doing it last year. Saturday races are great :)

Any word when entries for this will close?
I want to hold off another week or two if at all possible...

I notice that headphones are not allowed. I usually run with earbuds with the rubber taken out so I'm not divorced from my surroundings but have music to motivate me up the hills. Are these allowed? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask as this will be my first half marathon and the thought of running without music is nearly as scary to me as the distance to be run!!

No any music devices are not allowed. There are some junctions where traffic flows when people are not running. And its possible for emergency services to be on route.

On a side note a driver nearly hit me and another guy last year as they got frustrated at a roundabout.

Enjoy the race and u don't need music.

Sugar - just went to register there now and have only realised it is closed. Have a bit of an injury and was waiting to see how it was over the weekend.
If anyone is looking to use the transfer facility let me know!

SORTED NOW - got a transfer from a boardsie.

Similarly to scargill, I am looking for somebody to get a transfer from.
Let me know if you have an unnecessary entry, of course I'll pay the entry fee for anybody who decided to miss out.

    Cheers,
    Tamas

Any chance there might be one more generous sole out there who would be willing to transfer a number...I would be happy take it off your hands, and pay, as I also missed the deadline at the weekend...and I am having no joy with the WAC crew in trying to negotiate a late entry.

    Thanks!

Hi guys I'm looking for two transfers, 2 of us left it too late to enter. Please let me know if you have a space, happy to pay in full. Thanks

According to their Facebook page it's full. I'm pretty sure it sold out last year as well.

I don't get this attitude? You had 3 months to register!

What's the reasoning behind waiting less than two weeks before the race to register?????

I suppose people have other stuff going on in their lives and maybe can't commit at such an early stage. Then again the transfer option negates this somewhat.

Sorry if you took offence to a genuine question. It appears that the race is sold out so that's probably where the answer lies. Good luck with the event.

I should stay away from boards till after I have a coffee :D
