Working and on Boards is an oxymoron. If you're at work, get off Boards.

Sure where would you be goin' on a Saturday?

Nope, I'm still tucked up in bed, browsing Boards, nose is still blocked up from the cold but getting better, otherwise I'm usually up and about on a Saturday :(

You win a breach of the working time directive.

Aren't there exceptions for certain industries? I know when I was a care assistant, a 24 hour shift was normal and supposedly legal.

I'm off today. It's not usual for me to have a Saturday off, so I'm enjoying having time to do things I like on a weekend. Back in tomorrow and have to do about triple my usual work in less time, but sure I have today off so I don't care. :)

I'm not saying I enjoy working the weekends. .
But do enjoy when I have the week days off to make up for weekend work...
Weekdays are so much nicer to be off on!!

I suppose it depends. I've had to take the last week off work and had to spend it at home with my wife... I don't care if I have to crawl on my hands and knees into work on Monday, we're not doing that again! :pac:

Seriously though, during the week everyone is busy with work and doing their own thing so there's nobody around, it's only the weekend when everyone is off work that we can all go out (well, you're lucky enough you're working during the day, you'll still have time to go out tonight! ;) ).

Just arrived at work and am not looking forward to reading my student's PhD thesis all day today and tomorrow. Can't say that life is the most fun at the moment.

I'm in work in 50 minutes but I woke up feeling totally crap this morning, I actually considered calling in sick :( I'll chance it though

Can't fathom the thoughts of working a Saturday with all of the sport on.

I no longer work weekends. In a different life I had to so remember it well. When it was my turn I would begin my week on Thursday and work straight through to the following Wednesday. I absolutely hated it. The worst combination was doing four 8am-8pm in a row.

I have nothing near the money I earned in those days but I'm a far happier person.

I did it about once a month too. It wasn't just the shifts there were a few things that made me very unhappy there.

Still a breach if you're meant to be working. If that wasn't working time then you were wrong to say you are working since noon Thursday. Either way, something is wrong.

If you don't end up working weekends/evenings in you job at some point then your job probably isn't all that important......

Work? Haven't had a proper job in years, 2007 I think. Handed in my notice and walked. The only work I've done since is more of a paid hobby but it meant a lot of weekends sometimes seven days a week and up to 17 hour days. But I haven't done anything in over two years. I stay at home all day and look after the kids. So I suppose technically I'm at work now and on duty seven days a week. But no one pays me and I'm not entitled to the dole.

    It's called slavery I think.

Started at 2:30pm Thursday, finished at 11pm, went to bed.

Started at 6am Friday, finished at 11pm, went to bed.

Started at 7am Saturday, finished at 12:30pm, went home.

The sleeping time is paid as I had to sleep at the premises where I work and if I was to be woken then I'd get paid at normal rates.

As yet there hasn't been a definitive answer in legislation as to whether Sleep In time is actual working time despite being on the premises and on-call.

Anyway, it's not a usual pattern. One of our staff's father died so couldn't come in and I couldn't get alternative cover.

In since 11.30am this morning. Left the house at 9.10am to get here on time. Finish at 5, I'll be home by 7. It's a nice short shift so the commute doesn't bother me :)

Well, no. It's a sin to people whose religion dictates it so, even if a non-believer does it. It's not a sin to those who do not believe. Subjective, dependent on your own beliefs.

Or you're caught at the shít end of the scale. It amazes me the amount of lemings who don't use what's between their ears when they think that moaning to the poor sap who's in at the weekend will effect any actual change. Do you think they'd be putting up with your nonsense on a weekend if they were in such a position
