Why you shouldnt use Address Pal here:
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=105324453&postcount=1571
(Suckit 11/11, me 6/11, arrive same day)

    Now onto the real show:
    • Feck that was a lot of updates (4x download and reboot)
    • Fingerprint is great, really like having it on the power button that way. Have enrolled my first two fingers on left hand thumb on right. Snappy AF
    • Camera untested really
    • SIM not in presently
    • Speakers are OK. Kinda hoping for a little better with dual forward facing. Boomsound from HTC does really well in that config, these are lacking in the low end, even for a phone
    • Charging light on the base is a nice touch
    • Case is cool, even just to protect the camera lens
    • Unique look is definitely a win
    • Heavier than I expected

Gonna run a few benchmarks and look into rooting later on.

I am about to tackle it now.. :)
I saw the update earlier but cancelled it. I will do it now and have a mess around with the phone.
Looking forward to it, the mint is already growing on me.

    Edited.

    First update took 15 minutes.
2nd update now downloading to update to Android 7.0 Nougat (Contains security patches through February 5th 2017 1122.1MB)

    Download took 15 minutes
    Update took 20 minutes.

Update to 7.1.1 560MB security patches through April 1st 2017
    No download that i noticed.
Final update installed in 10 minutes.

Love the phone so far, great bit of kit for the price. Nice not getting stung by customs too.

Picked up this case and it feels nice and sturdy without adding much bulk:

Some reports on slickdeals that the fingerprint reader does not work with that.
I may still get it though :)

Edited. I think it may have been a different case.

Your case hides the lovely turquoise, I'm showing mine off :D

My main gripe at the minute is the default Gmail tone, its horrid, just havent changed it yet.

LTT noticed the the vibration motor on the Razer Phone was crap (it does seem so) so checked the Robin, basically non existent.

I have the minty one of those.
As I'm giving the Robin to my missus I haven't tried it out yet.
Also, she likes the kind of case you can put bank cards into, and with this one she's out of luck.

Nextbit push you to encrypt the device and a factory reset from settings does NOT remove it like vanilla android. Thus, to play with your device you need to factory reset twice. Guides are sketchy ish here.

OEM unlock (Wipes) -> Factory Reset from TWRP -> Flash SuperSU is the correct steps. Combination of:
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/nextbit-robin/general/guide-install-twrp-root-robin-t3334171
    and
    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/root-nextbit-robin/

    HTH.

I have no interest in installing anything more than a fresh launcher.
Is there any reason why I should avoid the encryption process?

I got around to turning this bad boy on, beginning to think I should have kept it for myself!
Spent a while updating from the box fresh Android 6.0 to 7.1.1, but it's working away.
    Lovely device.
I did plug it into a standard Samsung charger and it got quite hot in places.
However, when I used the Nexus charger it was fine.

I have not really had the chance to put this through any proper usage tests yet for various reasons, but i had to use the phone for some tasks today - mainly using Tiny Scanner to scan 5 pages and email them. The battery seemed to drop by quite a lot.

I logged in to email using browser, and i do have whatsapp running. No spapchat, Facebook or Instagram etc. I do not think it would last half a day with all of them on it if i had.
There is a battery life thread on XDA and a few Roms have been said to greatly increase it. I think i will be having a long read over there during the next free time i have. Hopefully this week.

I get a day out of battery life, albeit when I get home in the evening battery does be at 15% or so. I voice call on Facebook messenger for about 30 mins a day, read various newspaper apps on my commute and in work, and use Instagram, Gmail, Twitter, WhatsApp and Deezer throughout the day.

Still loving the phone, and the price I paid for it. People are surprisingly interested in it too when they see it, just because it looks different to the usual Samsung or iPhone stuff I think.

Have gotten 2 friends so far to order one as well after playing around with my phone for a minute or two.

The battery life is much better than i thought, and i may have been mistaken (not charged it) the day that i said that.

That said, I will still try some of the Roms that are said to improve it.
I only noticed today that the camera is automatically set to the lowest quality (or maybe mid-lowest) when it is out of the box.
I was happy to find i could set it to much higher quality :)

It's bounced back to $125 before shipping though, when I picked it up it was still the initial $99, with shipping it came in at €100 or so, no customs drama to speak of.

I must have got stung with the exchange rate. Mine was $99 + shipping and came in at €118.

Well worth it. It is a very nice phone with some nice features.

There are a couple of camera apps free this week posted by Corkie in the Android thread, but unsure if everyone saw it.
Install them and if they are not better, it is always possible to uninstall :) .

The HD Camera Pro already seems to be much better.
I could not believe the difference. Close up and in dark areas (or a light part of a dark area).
It is hard to tell, as it does not zoom in the same Ratio.

I have not yet tried the Fast Camera.

    Bump!

I lost fast charger I bought the other year (Anker Powerport 1, model A2012, USB C Fastcharge 3.0) and can't find the same one on Amazon. Anyone here who's Robin is still going able to recommend me a USB C fast charger? I've bought 1 off Amazon so far and it didn't work.

This is one that didn't work for fast charge:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016LPMFUA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Cheers!

I bought this - Works perfectly
    https://www.zapals.com/konsmart-qc3-0-3-port-usb-wall-charger-travel-charger.html

Most of their deliveries are slow though. I'm not sure how long that took. My charger cable went to crap, I thought it was the plug, but wasn't.
I bought this at the time - https://www.joybuy.com/600197656.html
OOS now but I find Baseus cables decent, and I think Joybuy are having a sale of them at the minute.

    If you'd read the description:

"Fast Charging Technology: Exclusive to Anker, PowerIQ and VoltageBoost combine to provide the fastest possible charge, up to 2.4 amps per port. (Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 not supported. For Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 charging, please see Anker's PowerPort+ 1)"

    This works

Just a heads up on cables. These are on sale for €1.33.
No idea what the quality is like, but it's an own brand store, so I am thinking that they should be fairly decent. Anyway, better to have and be looking at etc.. For €1.33 I bought one and because this thread was so recent, thought it might be handy for others here.

The cable with the Razer is a good braided one...using it over a year no issues and your future proofed for your next phone with quick charge 4+.

    Nope nope nope.

Cheap USBC cables are dangerous. Not kidding, its very different in C than it was in B.
