    Silva (WHU)
Aguero if he's declared fit. Silva if not.

Benteke really scares me however. There's just no feasible way for me to get him in at the moment but if I had him, I'd probably captain him pending Aguero update.

The way the season is going I'm giving serious thought to Kolarov, and I say that as someone who probably hasn't captained a defender in my ten years playing this game.

That said, City's run of clean sheets has to come to an end sometime.

Aguero or Benteke are the safer options.

    Silva (WHU)
Aguero if declared fit, Benteke or Kolarov if not. Though as attractive as the fixture is, I'm not sure giving the armband to any Liverpool player is a good idea at the moment.

    Mahrez (sto)
    Tempted by Wilson or Costa.

Kolarov and I won't be taking it off him.

I just don't know. This season has been a 6 week long car crash for me so far. Might go for Myhill or something.

    Benteke (NOR)
    Kolarov

    Silva (WHU)
Kolarov has his merits but there is no way I'd be going for him ahead of Aguero if fit. Even if not fit, I'd be thinking of bringing in Benteke with the consideration of a punt.

    Benteke (NOR)
    Kolarov at the moment.

Might change it to Aguero if he's fit but I then again, I might just stick where I am.

    Silva (WHU)
King Wessi looks a very attractive proposition against a weak Liverpool defence

Aguero for the valuable two points.

Can you trust though that Pellegrini won't declare Aguero fit and he'll start and have to go off as has happened in the past? I'd nearly prefer Kun to come from the bench this weekend.

    Benteke maybe then?

It's between Benteke and Kolarov for me. I'm edging towards Benteke. Only reservation is that Liverpool aren't playing well.

I'm the same. Don't see myself ever captaining a defender and the freaky nature of the first 5 GWs doesn't change that for me.

    Silva (WHU)
I made a little analysis of the captain choices so far. I had a look at the impact of the Monday Night Football captains, what the obvious choices (leading our FSA (C) polls) have done and whom from the best GW scorers could have sincerely been 1-week successful (C) gambles.

I listed the obvious captains in order of their FSA poll selection and the unexpected ones from their highest returns (I try to consider the "sensible" - i.e. the ones we could have considered - picks only). Only 1 obvious choice matched a MNF success.

    2afzcww.png

    So. MNF captain rule !!!!!!

The coming GW won't have any MNF though. So far, only 1 GW was like that (GW4)... and none of the obvious captains (though it was a 90% Agüero GW) performed. There were also very few gambles that paid of. (C)ing a City def was not the worst idea for that GW.

If I try to project that onto the coming GW, who's the obvious a priori choice? Benteke? He won't be a 90% captain though. In light of these results, Kolarov becomes really really tempting...

    Ayew (EVE)
I'm thinking Mahrez, himself and Leicester are on fire, while stoke are struggling. Away fixture though.

Not sure I trust Aguero with his fitness, Silva probably the safe option.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Toying with Sterling as VC to Aguero or even ahead of Aguero. Will see how he goes in Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,303 ✭✭✭Mike Ehrmantraut

Aguero the obvious one if fit, though tempted by Mahrez even though it's an away fixture.
Haven't made a decent call on a captain yet this season.

    Coutinho (NOR)
I'm slighty leaning towards benteke. West ham have won away at arsenal and liverpool, kinda worried they will keep city quiet.

Mahrez(c) Tekkers (vc) after doing some research. I'm surprised a lot of you would be willing to give the armband to Kun when he'd be a serious risk to come off early or even not start

He is Aguero. We could be 20 GWs into the season with him still only having the 1 goal and I'd be struggling to get rid.

It's not really the form, it's the knock. Even if he does somersaults on Friday in training, I'd be worried about a reoccurrence or that he'll be wrapped in cotton wool

+1 Giving him the band this week is nuts, if he is fit he will likely start from the bench imo.

    Silva (WHU)
if the injury is just a kick that caused heavy bruising Ill be giving aguero the armband as if he is in the squad he is fit . Its totally different if its some sort of a strain as that is much riskier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Strongly tempted by Kolarov, but Payet's performance last night is turning me against that. Aguero is risky, Mahrez is away, Diouf and Gomis have good fixtures but I wouldn't like to captain them. Silva is probably the safe option.

Edit: on second thoughts, looking at Iroced's summary, Mahrez's form is unreal. I saw MOTD and he was a beast in the second half against Villa. Hmmm...

    Silva (WHU)
If Aguero becomes a differential captain option at home to West Ham due to disillusion/ potential resting after a glorified rest it's an opportunity too good to refuse for me.

But I have never been more positively biased about a player in this game ever, including you know who.

If I was asked for my greatest strength and greatest weakness then my unwavering support of Sergio would probably be my answer to both :pac:

    Benteke (NOR)
I wont touch Kun captaincy until he gets a goal under his belt. Dont see the benefit of getting 2 or 4 points from my captain. He'll shine during christmas and double GW's. Until he scores might aswell put Rooney captain. Both just blind faith. The likes of Ayew and Mahrez are on form now!

    Ayew (EVE)
Stoke have lost both their home games this season, 1-0 losses to Liverpool and WBA, neither of which have shown much attacking prowess this season.

Leicester beat West Ham 2-1 away, with Mahrez netting 10 points. They drew 1-1 with Bournemouth away, however Mahrez went off injured at HT.

Mahrez looking more and more tempting tbh.
