    98 Avensis 1.6 - 6 months test - €450, no mention of tax, still, if this checks out it'll run for years

    Are they expensive to insure?

    IT's that 10yr + car is the problem depending on ins. company.

    I'd be pretty confident I would be able to insure it for cheap enough, it's not that big a problem for most people I'd guess.

    Is the 10yr old thing not just applicable to 2 companies currently and also new policy holders with them? Would love to hear if anybody has had difficulties insuring

    There was someone on here who had difficulty getting a quote on an old micra a few weeks back.

    A few won't even quote and the rest are just using it as another excuse to raise premium. My 02 car was 60euro cheaper if it had been a 06 when I checked.

    Seeing as the price difference in purchasing a 02 against a 06, providing all other things were equal (i.e. the 02 wouldn't cost more to keep on the road) 60 quid is hardly a reason to avoid a car.

    No I was just pointing out insurers are looking at age of cars as a big factor now. Of course I'm not comparing savings.

    That was myself. The missus drives a 05 320i and has a no claims bonus for 4 years. She rang up looking to insure our older car at the time, a '99 Micra and several places outright refused to quote.

    Toyota Tercel - not to everybody's taste but its cool in my eyes, good bit of test and some tax for under a grand

    Very nice. I'd drive that. :)

    Looks like it has 2 head units?

    Seems so yeah, didn't even notice that at first myself.

    Oddly enough I actually think the headlights and indicator lenses are the same as in my Jdm Sunny. The indicator lenses have that little bulge like on mine

    Very cool little car imo but I'd love a 4wd tercel wagon

    Some are. That one is permanent 4wd with a diff lock button

    I'm pretty sure they are 4WD. Hence the relatively high asking price in winter time :)

    Looks nice, is cheap, a lot of driving pleasure for well, well under a grand. That's all good. But I think I would spend €0.50 more per week in motor tax and get the straight 6 engine BMW is rightfully famous for :)

    I'm such a non fan I didn't even know it was an l4 :)

    Like so indeed, Duke!

    That's the 2.2l though, same as the one in our family car. A tiny bit more go at 170bhp but with our silly motor tax system it will cost you €241 more to tax for the year compared to a 2l car :(

    The BMW straight 6 is good for massive mileage.

    I get your point though. I tend to distrust ads that are economical with the truth...

    Maybe its the ads I happen to be looking at but it seems more and more than ever before are ommiting the mileage. Also quite a few marking in the actual mileage figure as kilometres - not sure if this is errors or sellers just being deceiptful but the cynic in me tells me its the latter in most cases.

    Automatic for the people
    99 Audi A4 saloon 1.8 litre pertol;
    152k miles;
    leather seats;
    tested 08/16;
    asking €550.

    not overly fussed on the colour but fantastic value for money considering the amount of test left on it I reckon.

    97 Accord. These are nice cars, will probably go on for many years more and its nice that its taxed as a 1.9 and not a 2.0
