@Toyotafanboi: I'm always astounded when I see your Fuelly. Is your Slicka some sort of freak, or are they all like that?

I reckon they are all capable of that. They are very light and plenty powerful, so you don't have to work it vey hard to get the job done :) Toyota said they would do 34mpg combined and they weren't too far wrong.

That said, my driving is primarily motorway, so I reckon you'd be looking at early 30's if just doing town driving.

You'll have to change the title if it's a Primera you're selling.

Not a bad looking car though.

Nice original looking three door Starlet with long test that you could probably get for €500. I'd really love one of these. There used to be one in the same colour belonging to a neighbour years ago, what a shed it was, but this is nice

And if the Starlet doesn't fit the bill. Same price and length of NCT give or take a bit. The bootlid looks to be sitting a bit off if it isn't just resting closed in the pic, but otherwise a nice looking car that will probably go on for a long time

First mention of these in bangernomics?

Not a paticularly interesting or exciting car, but still looks fresh and modern and like it cost much more than €2k. Isofix and a million airbags etc.

That's savage value, main dealer selling it too so it's probably not a complete bag.

It looks nice alright, wonder what the mileage is?

A 00 car without even electric windows, but seven months tax and NCT for presumably €500 is a bit of a bargain, and these cars are pleasant to drive. The arches look quite good too but you would have to be looking at the sills etc too before handing over any money

Love them starlets just for their unbelievable reliability. A jdm starlet soleil (100bhp) 1.3 16v was sold in Leitrim last week for €350 and it was taxed till March and had the NCT fail sheet too so wasn't a complete hen house. Someone got a bargain

I thought you meant the title of his post 'Couldn't go too far wrong' :D

I am going to try and see this tomorrow. It looks clean and I get the impression it has been well cared for.

Cool car and massive spec for a 94. looks well alright, a set of OEM hubcaps and it'd be fantastic, loving the Nokia 3210 phone kit, very period.

The tax is up on my Sunny and I'm in two minds on whether or not I should re tax it. Theres nothing wrong with it, its a nice car to drive and has given no trouble and has nice spec - x4 electric windows, mirror, good stereo/CD and loads of speakers etc but I'd just like something a bit bigger and comfortable plus I'm looking for a tow bar for the Sunny at the moment so it really fits the bill.

There aren't many 1.5/1.6 automatic options out there for not much money. I think I'm likely to get 4 or 500 hundred for the Sunny with NCT until 2017, so that would cover most of the cost of the Carina. I'm in a position at this time of the year to change of all times, nice time to buy I guess though - people might be looking for money for Christmas

Looks like he was entering the guiness book of world records for the most amount of suncream hand prints on a single vehicle.

I wouldn't be gone on those Mondeos, they are easy on the eyes and feel fine to be in but the 1.8 petrol is best avoided and LX spec is chronic. I'd be expecting an 05-06 diesel for around €1k. It's probably an ok car but a risky way to spend a grand imo.

3 years newer, 9 months test and a months tax, Zetec spec, half the asking price. There's probably some catch but for €500 it's worth a roll of the dice.

I know the 2.0 TDCi was no peach either but certainly more desirable than the 1.8 petrol.

Edit: ****ing lol, "lost the keys" never mind

A soon to be 11 year old Alfa with less than a months test left on it. No thanks, not bangernomics. :)

Maybe by the letter of the law you're right but it all depends on your level of bangernomics experience I suppose. Its not one for a novice but it could be a cracker. My own car was an out of tax and test car that's as rare as rocking gorse shiote and even came with a broken windscreen. Oh and it was sitting idle for years before I stole it. Its now my daily and its even tested and taxed for a grand. Everyone said I was bonkers. What did they know.

A good car at the right price and short test is twice the car that comes with a long test and a whole pile of hidden trouble. You gotta go and see for yourself.

15 months test, 3 months test, nicely spec'd run out model. Price a bit saucey but get it closer to €1600 and you'd be doing well.

I don't disagree with what you're saying but that car is really a fixer-upper on here tbh.

Must be a catch, ok looking Golf MK5 TDi, 9 months test and 3 months tax, asking €2k. I'd imagine those km's could be miles, but still, prime candidate for a hair cut.

Looks good but he's asking very strong money. Particularly if you consider timing belt was done 100k miles ago, possibly more than 10 years ago. Would need doing straight away unless you're happy to play belt roulette :)

According to the tippex it was done at 197k miles but in any event it's a non interference engine. Still maybe doing the belt mightn't be any harm either.

I think the rules say somewhere two/three months test minimum?
