    '07 Sonata, tax and test, yours for about €800. Bit of a cliché but that is a lot of modern car for half nothing

    On the dealer subject, does done deal not give sellers the option of selecting trader in order to get a vat receipt.
    I figured that was the reason "private sellers" didn't select it

    As with any car in bangernomics, go in with your eyes wide open and don't be banking on the warranty

    Are they really?. Always liked the look of them but don't know anything about them, good or bad.

    No excuse for not having a car......
    Probably no tax on it, however.

    EDIT. I see the NCT is 9 months out....... sorry lads.

    '00 W202 auto, with electric leather.
    NCT 07/17, tax 09/17
    130k on the clock
    €1,250 asking

    https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/mercedes-benz-elegance-c200-tax-09-17-nct-07-17/15044143

    and this, '99 Saab 9-5 Griffin (3.0 s/charged)
    claimed 1 owner with FSSH
    174k
    short test
    for sale with a dealer, price has dropped €250 in the last week.
    I don't think it qualifies for the luxobarge thread, not quite sure who would take it on though, would be a shame to see it crushed.

    Supercharged?

    Weren't these turbo and only 200bhp?

    2.3t would be more powerful and cheaper to tax.

    Saleproof at any money.

    Hate when a car is advertised as one owner when it isn't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭tc20

    @ Colm - oops, mea culpa, read straight from the ad without engaging brain, 3.0 turbo (has a Saab ever been supercharged??)
    200bhp, is that all? that's terrible..
    have you checked on the owner numbers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    They had an unusual setup where they had a tiny turbo fed off one side of the engine.

    Yeah, it's 2 owners :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,114 ✭✭✭✭unkel

    €1,750? Not a hope in hell the Saab will sell for a 4 figure sum. Big miles, not one owner (although just transferred into someone elses name last week). Bit over 2 weeks test. New owner will have to pay almost €1,500 tax (or almost €1,700 if paid quarterly) for just 200BHP. Maybe for a Saab nut who likes driving in a straight line :p

    These are ageing well (well looks wise anyway)

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-320cd-nct-amp-tax-july-2017/15031005?campaign=3

    Not the highest spec but still a respectable looking car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    A 130bhp A4 that hasn't been completely ruined yet
    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/audi-a4/15054555
    Rear quarter looks a little suspect but may be grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    Not the cheapest example, but condition and history is key with these. Apart from the baggy leather on the drivers seat, this looks alright

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-golf-gti-taxed-and-nctd/15054289

    Obviously I'd be skeptical about the mileage, but it's claiming a FSH

    Some people search with <100k. It simply makes the ad reach more people

    Bear in mind also that people who put in the mileage often actually lie or don't get it right if I'm being kind.

    colm_mcm wrote: »

    Take that Audi A2 as an example. Seller claims 101,000 km but the NCT disc actually shows there to be 100,307 miles on the car. These aren't just one off errors in my experience.

    Then there are those who don't seem to be capable of handling a number higher than 9,999 of which there would seem to be a considerable few out there...worrying reallyeek.png

    Rude not to post a car after that rant!

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-accord-1-8ils-new-nct-01-18/13872454

    Accord MK5 - 1999 - was knocking around the dealers for some time before it was registered back in the day I reckon;
    1.8 litre;
    158k miles were told;
    NCT 01/18;

    From an era when cars were well built (well most of them anyway). Car entering ocean pic would worry me a wee bit though and think that chrome trim is "aftermarket"? Eyes wide open and all that and check insurance first etc.

    Fantastic spot! I'm not one to follow the sheeple and say its done when the mileage hits the 100k figure but mileage is pretty high on it all the same - I would ideally like to see a fully documented service record if possible. Still if its in good condition and drives perfect as the seller mentions; drivetrain and suspension all good then somebody is going to get themselves a bargainsmile.png

    Not for everyone but here goes;

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-acord-2-2-diesel-nct-6-17-price-drop/14994540

    2005 Accord 4dr 2.2 diesel;
    196k miles were told;
    NCT 06/17;
    Asking €700

    *not sure what qualifies someone to say their engine and gearbox is 100%....as opposed to say 97% or 86% or pluck a percentage figure out of my backside percent....

    They're usually the ones that claim 'new breaks and clucth' fitted as well :rolleyes:

    I had one of those Accords though 2.0 litre years ago, they were a great car and never gave an ounce of bother. They were quite nippy too for their time. They were sold right up to 1999 even when the newer (blander) model was introduced. Very hard to find a clean example these days. Wouldn't mind one again like that if I had the room for it, probably very hard to insure these days too due to the carry on of insurance companies and old cars.

    Me too, I had a 2.0 1997 one, lovely comfortable car, only sold it as my commute increased. Sorry I didn't keep it cause my commute has never been as short as it now :rolleyes:
