Need some video footage of an acoustic act playing live music. Is there anyway we could do it ourselves? line out of mixer? video camera from side of stage?

doesn't have to be top notch quality

Live 'Off the Board' mixes tend to be a bit skewed: vocal heavy, FX can sound wack and funky EQs. You can record subgroup outs–with a bit of premeditated assigning, vocals and instrument groups can be given their own tracks. By far the best way is to get a splitter and record each stage input separately, and add a couple of room mics for ambience. This will give you plenty to play with back in the studio, and reduces the chance of ground loops or other weird noises on your tape.
