Specifying the compression of a JPEG file

I'm proofreading a manual and one paragraph deals with taking photos of existing stonework and requires JPEG images to be taken. However, this is slightly unthinking in that it doesn't specify image size or compression. The objective is to create an accurate record as opposed to recording microscopic detail.

What would be an appropriate way to specify the compression?
