    Late Late Show Epic Mash-Up

Ryan Tubridy returns to the helm of The Late Late Show this Friday night and to get you in the mood here he is with some very special friends having a sing-song!
Ryan is joined by some A-List pals, including Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria, Graham Norton and Dermot O'Leary, for a rendition of Kodaline's smash hit, Ready.
And to mark the return of the programme, there will be a €50,000 cash giveaway in conjunction with the national lottery.
Speaking in this week's RTÉ Guide, Tubridy admits that he loves presenting The Late Late Show, but reckons he could be a better host. He said: "I love doing it. I'm alright at it, but I could be better. I know there are limits to my abilities and it's about trying to be better."
He added: You don't end up as The Late Late Show presenter without being competitive and ambitious."

    Corrected that for him!

Is it just me? Look at this RTE page talking about the lineup for the latest Late Late.

    http://www.rte.ie/ten/news/2015/0903/725491-for-late-late-show/

Tubridy with a big smily head. A 50,000 euro giveaway from the Lotto. A happy song. Then reading the lineup I see
Also on the show will be Helen O’Driscoll, the mother of two boys killed by their brother Jonathan in Charleville, Co. Cork exactly a year ago tomorrow. Jonathan then took his own life. Helen will discuss her love for her three sons, forgiveness and the importance of openness about mental health.

Am I the only one scratching my head? Why do RTE keep insisting the Late Late should be seen as some light entertainment show?

Max Mosley and The Rose of Tralee are on too, apparently.

But who cares as long as yous are all here? Eh?

That's the cancer/horrific disease/mental health slot taken, the B list celeb "so max, do you have any Irish relatives" and the random Irish bit in the news slot. Who's in the "RTE celeb" spot?

Tubridy's show is a hodge podge of different topics covering extremely lightweight unentertaining stuff and then mishandled interviews with people recovering from or currently suffering from a terrible ordeal. He rarely seems to hit the right balance and we either get too light, or mishandled or just stuff we have seen before. Ditching all the boybands, the boyfolk and the 'RTE canteen' stuff would be a start.

It seems the show has the following 4 quadrants:

1=>The airhead celeb/boyband section where some reality TV type is interviewed and nothing is said. Then, a boyband is brought on and sings and maybe even is interviews. And/or Louis Walsh is interviewed.
2=>The airhead celeb/boyfolk section where some other foreign celeb is asked about Ireland and what he/she thinks. Then, some boyfolk singer is featured. If I see Mike Denver this year, I'll scream.
3=>The mishandled misery slot. Cancer, ALS, suicide, depression, rape, homelessness, etc. victims have to endure poor interviews added to their ordeals. Some new way out band plays too.
4=>The best section. Whoever is the best or the best of a bad lot as it may sometimes be is kept until the end. The best music is kept until here too.

    Predictions for this year:

Pop singers: Niall Horan, Louis Walsh's new band, Derek Ryan, Nathan Carter, poss. ex members of Westlife, Ronan Keating, Mike Denver.
Actors: The stars of whatever series is on RTE during the year. Unfortunately, it will not be Nidge or Fran and co :(
Sports personalities: Ruby Walsh, Katie Taylor and some rugby, golf and boxing personalities are sure to appear. Also, some English soccer star who is around.
Chefs: Richard Corrigan, Rachel Allen, Neven Maguire.
Non-pop music: we may be lucky and get some. Christy Moore, Dubliners, Imelda May, Daniel O'Donnell.
Misc: Ben Hafaff Twins, Majella O'Donnell.

No offence meant, but you seem to be obsessed with Mike Denver.

I don't think he has been on the LLS in ages but you mention him in virtually every thread.

Mike Denver was on last year and every year. He did Reet Petite last time he was on and this The DJ song the last time shortly before that. I am not obsessed with him only he is on too often and he and this boyfolk genre in general ain't much good.

Do the producers of the Late Late have some sort of legal requirement to deliver misery every week? Do they excitedly troll through the papers each week looking at horrific news stories saying things like “Hey, this child is dying of cancer and his parents can’t afford the medication- lets have them on!” or “Look, this woman was raped by her father for 20 years- lets have her on!”? Either way its really fkucd up.

One final question though- how many weeks into this years run do people think we will have a misery segment panel discussion on whether or not Ireland is doing enough to help ease the European migrant crisis, featuring a liberal Irish Times journalist, a conservative right wing nut-job, and an audience peppered with refugees telling Ryan the horrors of their plight? I’m saying Week 3.

Ryan will be in serious pre-election mode over the coming months. Watch out for all the FFers being given a slot and a free Party Political Broadcast courtesy of the DLB.

WITH only hours left before the return of The Late Late Show, host Ryan Tubridy has locked himself in his dressing room to run through his range of expressions to help him appear enthusiastic about the show.

If I'm not mistaken Max spent a good bit of his childhood on Ireland.

He and his family were sent here out of harms way during the war.

What with his father being a Nazi and all.

Heard max Mosley being interviewed a few months ago either by Anton Savage or Matt Cooper, really enjoyed it, interesting guy, huge love of hurling.

But to have that poor woman on, what happened is beyond belief and my heart goes out to her but why do we need to see this on a Friday night? This is not entertainment.
