I'll admit it occasionally brings a tear to the eye. Especially around Italia 90. No idea why.

I actually like it too though. Best thing about it's all clips, no presenters/talking head types

Great series. There's always a point in each episode when the pop music stops ominously and then you know it's about to show the aftermath of an IRA shooting or another catastrophic loss of human life.

Done it. I was in the Czech Republic with a friend and he had been given a USB stick with pretty much all those years. Add in a few pints of draught guinness and a half a bottle of whiskey each and we were both in bits. Never cried as much in my life.

World Cup 2002 was a special time. As a young fella, it was unreal. I was in the departure lounge for the Ireland Germany game - you can't have a beer. A half pint. Feck it, have whatever you want and Robbie equalised in stoppage time. W were dancing towards the departure. Aer Lingus staff were well oiled too.

a bit drunk now but i was in sixth class and we had a free day cause of the match and if they wanted we could stay and watch the match in the study hall and it was great when robbie scored. weird hes still a top player for us now

Our international teams were doing well.

It's a great programme, well edited and presented, the sport the politics it brings it all back and can give you nostalgia emotions, for me anyway.

In the 2015 one once they get to the marriage referendum I'll probably tear up. I can look at the others knowing their history but in an almost detached way. The referendum was something I was really involved in.

You do know that it's a complete rip off of a BBC program called The Rock 'n Roll Years?

That started in 1955, the birth of Rock 'n Roll, and went up to 1980. For some reason they never, so far as I know, extended it beyond that. I think I still have a few episodes on VHS.

The BBC will never be able to match the Reeling episode which finished with Bertie as minister for finance stating that he took great delight in seeing tax cheats being prosecuted by our courts.

I think Reeling in the Years is one of RTE's best, even if that is a very short list.

Rock and Roll Years went to 1989. 1956 is the first one.

It's pretty good but let's just forget about the 2000s Reeling... Pure guff. They knew it was big then and let it slide. Not to mention attempting to position RTE presenters as having known the crash was coming all along and we the general eejits were just too stupid to listen to our betters.

It is a pile of dung but seeing the oak men lift Samuel in 1993 makes the hairs on my neck stand up, Enda Gormley throwing that ball up at the end is sacred footage.

They always include Ulster as a foreign country in it yet include a segment if an Ulster team wins the all ireland I have noticed. Surely that should just be more foreign news.

Reeling in the Years and Scannal are two of the best shows RTE have ever done. Worth the license fee alone.
