Shirts, t-shirts, polo shirts, tops all get a blast of the iron alright!

After I have washed them after one wear which I do straight after I have my morning shower!

See I've amalgamated all the threads now! :P

Not a chance. Straight out of the dryer and folded/hung and there's no need to iron.

Body heat is my iron !

Only shirts which I bring to the cleaners for pressing as I don't do ironing myself. However weekends my washing gets done at home my mother insists on ironing all my stuff no matter how much I tell her not to.

never. I did replace the old iron years ago but the new cheap one is still in its box. I know folk who iron their sheets..

Shirts only, and some trousers get pressed. That's it.

I hear of people ironing t-shirts, jeans, sheets, duvets...complete waste of time.

Only shirts. I can't wear a shirt that isn't ironed.

I only iron my shirts. I hate ironing but I hate putting on clothes with creases even more.

No I hate ironing, it's my least favourite thing to do. If something needs to be ironed, I'll do it, but otherwise nope. When I lived at home my brother ironed all my clothes. I don't notice much difference to be honest

I'll only iron a shirt that I'm wearing with a suit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,453 ✭✭✭Shenshen

    No.

I simply won't buy anything that would require ironing after washing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

Anything worth ironing goes to the cleaners. The rest comes out of the dryer pretty much unwrinkled.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,853 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

Usually just dress shirts, where creases will look awful and ruin the point of wearing the shirt in the first place

Here we go again! Why don't you do your own washing..you're a grown man.

I iron most things. Even my bedsheets. However we do not have a hot press and I don't really use the dryer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,389 ✭✭✭NachoBusiness

    Nope. I steam them.

Highly recommend one if you hate ironing, like me.

I don't really wear clothes that need ironing. One or two bits only. I wear tight dresses that mostly don't crease. I get my suit jackets dry cleaned. And the rest of the time, I'm in gym clothes, leggings/shorts/vests/tech t-shirts etc.

I DO iron my bedclothes though.

I don't iron boxers or socks, but the rest of my clothes get ironed. I usually just throw on a movie and watch that while doing the ironing once a week

    .

I do it myself some of the time and other times when I'm going home I bring it home (I try to bring it home usually as we have much better washing and drying facilities), where sometimes I do it myself and others it gets done. Big fecking deal if it gets done for me some of the time. Honestly some people must have strange relationships with their family it's not even something that would be noticed in our house people coming home with washing.

I think we may have discovered why he doesn't do laundry regularly; he waits till he's going home for his mammy to deal with them.

Honestly, a 30 year old man in 3 day underpants and bedsheets that haven't been washed in months who expects his mammy to do his washing, living in a manky house share. *shudder*

Same here, everything goes over to the laundrette and comes back all folded and pressed neatly, can be put away straight away, and then when I want to wear them, I take them out the night before and press the trousers, and iron the shirt and leave them out for the morning with a tie, jocks and socks (which I don't iron, waste of time, electricity and energy ironing smalls and I don't think ties are supposed to be ironed, just pressed).

reminds me of my father who would put his trousers between mattress and hard plank bed base at night to press the creases in.

I hate doing a pile of ironing, I like it to be a 5 minute job at most so I'd iron a shirt for work every night or a polo shirt if I'm going out! The thought of ironing 6 or 7 shirts at the one time would break my heart!

Same, straight out of the dryer onto hangers or folded, and ironing is mostly a thing of the past.

There's always a few things that need a blast of the iron, but most of it can be eliminated with using a tumbler.

Yeah i iron them but don't like it!

I do now. Even my teeshirt, but not yet my underwear.

I sell special water for your iron on ebay.

A shirt for a formal event. Other than that, if it's folded properly or hung up, it doesn't need to be ironed.

    I do!
Well my going out/good clothes at the very least and usually try to do them...but if was in a rush I would throw on an oul unironed tshirt and jeans...like I'd be wearing overall/boilersuit in work anyways...
But that thing of folding straight outta the dryer deos Sort of work but wouldn't do for going out clothes either if I'm honest

Though it would want to be v.bad before I'd cross the line and iron the duvet cover (not unheard of but so rare not worth mentioning)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,624 ✭✭✭✭meeeeh

I do most things that need to be ironed. Some plastic materials don't and jeans is ok sometimes without ironing. You can tell from a mile if some (especially decent natural material) clothing is not ironed. People going to work all crumpled up is very common sight. Casual shirts that need pressing of stitches to look presentable. Trousers which barley noticeable edge and so on.

I don't iron underwear, bedding or towels because frankly I hate ironing. But I would be embarrassed going to work or out in unironed clothing.

You iron stuff that you've already paid someone to iron for you? Jaysis.

I iron stuff that needs it, on a per-item basis. As in, if I want to wear something and it needs an iron, I do that one thing then. I don't iron everything as it comes out of the wash, ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

I'm amazed at how many people seem to dry absolutely everything in the dryer, though. I've used mine twice in two years, I think. I hate them, they absolutely EAT electricity.

Rarely, I've a trouser press for suits, wear tops that don't need ironing, and have a pile of dry clean clothes

I use an ironing service for anything that needs actual ironing.

    ironing is the devils work

You can totally do some tops in the trouser press too. Many's the night I stuck a top in my dad's trousers press while I did my make-up. 10 minutes and bob's yer uncle.

I live in an apartment building, the only laundry facilities I use are the in-house washers and dryers in the laundry room. I've no balcony to put things out on, and I wouldn't be allowed to if I had, and I cannot stand the sight of a clothes horse indoors.

The machines I use are large industrial ones, so I go down and do two loads a week, including bedding, and get it all washed and dried in one go. It's really convenient, totally worth the money.

You can't beat a clothes horse! We changed our washing machine about 5 years ago but this one had no dryer, it has a spin cycle thing so I've no choice but to use the horse!

I might use one if I had a big enough place so that I could put it out of sight, but even then I'd finish things off in the dryer so I didn't have to iron them!

And dryers make your towels sooo soft. :)

Our horse is out of the way, it doesn't stop us getting around the apartment. Have another fold out one that's easy to put away, have to use that on the weeknights I have to wash the bibs for football.
