Awful from Marriner not to give that. Arsenal looking good so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,814 ✭✭✭✭JPA

    Mitrovic red card!

I think he could have just went with a yellow.
Bad tackle alright, bit harsh though.

Yeah standard absolutely boss the game and concede on the counter.

    Whoa red!

Mitrovic is clearly a mental case. Sissoko should have been off after a couple of minutes too.

People will disagree with me but I think that's justified.

Look at where he's looking when he makes it - he's looking to do Coquelin.

    Arsenal should romp this now

    Don't think anyone will disagree.

I thought it was a bit harsh at first, but on repeated viewing, that's pure malice.

Never a red card, just shows what media can do

Unlucky for the lad, he was looking to control the ball not do Coquelin imo.

Newcastle will be lucky to finish this game with 10 men!

    Never a red IMO.
    wasnt out to do coquelin.
Arsenal making the most of any tips now

Should do with 75mins against 10 but we invariably tend to make these games harder than they should be.

Jesus it doesn't matter whether he was out to do him.

    It was a dangerous tackle.

Do people know the rules or just listen to soundbites like out to do him.

Arsenal should destroy them as long as they are leading at half time.

Mitrovic is some head case. Definitely a red. Newcastle losing the heads a fair bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

Newcastle unable to cope with the movement so far. Stonewall pen, definite red, definite bookings.

Crowd right behind Newcastle now too and they'll have everyone behind the ball. It won't be easy.

I hope we can take advantage of that red card now. We were looking up to speed before it and it would be shame if newcastle now close it down at the back (though who can blame them).

There will definitely be another red card in this game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

For those who don't think it was a red; watch the replay and (a) look at where Mitrovic is looking when he stamps down and (b) the ball is well gone before he sticks his foot in.

You'd easily break someone's foot doing that and he does have form for that kind of challenge.

    Fully justified.

    Nice jump Coquelin.

    Newcastle need to relax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Jesus. Newcastle will be doing well to finish with 10 here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

No way they finish this game with 10 if Mariner has any balls.

Thauvins challenge was very poor aswell

Ramsey is no Ozil, dont understand that switch today.

Poor challenge for the red but Newcastle can be pissed off at the inconsistency given what Coquilen gets away with on a weekly basis.

Your opinion on anything arsenal related is completely invalid and worthless.

Forget the red...it's good to see a referee stop this kind of kicking. Most of it is nothing but cynical, primitive stuff designed to take Arsenal 'out of their game'.

I've no problem with defensive football, but cynical fouling kills me when it's relentless.

What's the deal with ozil not even being on the bench?

G'wan turty and pull out some clips from this year of terrible Coquelin challenges on a weekly basis that's deserving of a yellow/red card. Humour me. Or have we just based all our opinions on 60 mins against Palace as translating to "weekly basis"?

Otherwise your statement is nonsense ;)

Ive said it many times before, if I was a professional footballer, I would spend a decent amount of time making sure I can at least score a tap-in with my weak foot. No excuses, Theo.

Giroud for Coq at half time?

    For Ramsey :)

Giroud for Coq at half time?

Reckon we'll see him earlier than usual anyway, funnily enough the sending off probably hinders Walcott as Newcastle sitting deeper doesn't suit his game at all.
