Kerry: Brendan Kealy; Paul Murphy, Marc Ó Sé, Shane Enright; Jonathan Lyne, Peter Crowley, Killian Young; David Moran, Anthony Maher; Stephen O’Brien, Johnny Buckley, Donnchadh Walsh; Colm Cooper, Kieran Donaghy, James O’Donoghue.

Tyrone: Niall Morgan; Aidan McCrory; Ronan McNamee, Cathal McCarron; Ronan McNabb, Justin McMahon, Peter Harte; Colm Cavanagh, Mattie Donnelly; Tiernan McCann, Mark Bradley, Conor Meyler; Darren McCurry, Sean Cavanagh, Connor McAliskey.

    Referee: Maurice Deegan.

    Odds: Kerry 1/4; Draw 10/1; Tyrone 4/1.

First of this year's football semi finals is today at 3.30pm.
Kerry had a virtual training match in their quarter final, destroying Kildare 7-16 to 10 points. I don't think I need to remind anyone of Tyrone's quarter final victory over Monaghan. Pretty much every snippet of media attention has focused on Tiernan McCann's dive, crazy 8 week suspension and subsequent predictable throwing out of said ban.

Kerry are raging hot favourites to advance to their second final in a row but that usually means little to Tyrone at this time of year. Last time they met in the championship was three years ago when Kerry came out on top fairly comfortably by 10 points.
Before that, Tyrone obviously had the best of the encounters in the 2000s, beating Kerry three times in 2003, 2005 and 2008. You have to go back to 1986 for their previous meeting before this.

Personally, I think Kerry will have too much for Tyrone this time around. But I thought the same with the Monaghan - Tyrone game two weeks ago.

If any one is still in the car heading to Croker, don't head in via the M1 & Drumcondra. Use the port tunnel, or get off the M50 at the Ballymun or Finglas exits & head in that way. According to the Guards, there are massive delays coming in off the M1.

    Tough game to call

Kerry I would think have the cuteness and expirence to edge it but harte such great manager i wouldn't be surprised if kerry were beaten and if any game catch kerry it's all ireland semi final

Tyrone seige mentally and huge hunger over unfair critsim imo getting could have huge performance in them
Either management loose today they will face critsim but imo both are excellent management and when two good manager meet only one can win
If kerry loose people will say we're lucky last year which I don't agree with and fitzmaurice will win in time another all ireland win or loose today
    This could be close
Kerry may win but I wouldn't be shocked Tyrone won and I'd be delighted if they won for harte

    Ref with kerry so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

    Donaghy playing very deep

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,380 ✭✭✭timmyntc

Seems to be a lot of pushes in the back going unnoticed by the ref, maybe he's being a lot more lenient due to the conditions

    Definite black card there

Thought the ref was gonna bottle it there.

Very foolish of O Se, if ever there was a game where you'd get a black it would be this and it was such an obvious pull down

Kerry's much better forwards will win this for them. Tyrone needs to be more clinical.

Yeah, but refs are so reluctant to give the big name players a black card in general, I'd say O'Se was wise to hedge his bets. How often do we see players like him get them, even if it is 100% deserved?

Id say gooch has been but donaghy has seen possession on a fair few occasions but he is just being completely surrounded once he has the ball and has turned it over numerous times.

Tyrone will be exhausted if they keep this up.

Ridiculous tactics from Kerry playing so deep, inviting Tyrone on and having no options up front. Playing in fear of Tyrone already. Stupid stuff

Should stick a saddle on cavanagh...

Tyrone are having to work so much harder than Kerry, hard to see them keeping it up. Very impressive so far though

Is no malice Martin carneys middle name ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,380 ✭✭✭timmyntc

Tyrone great in the art of the tackle, not nearly as convincing going forward as they were in the initial 5 mins of the game
Kerry's key players are out of the game thus far, still much better going forward than tyrone

Shudda been a goal. Tyrone being far too wasteful here.

Tyrone missing way too much its going to cost them in the end. Two clear goal chances given up for points. At the other end they would be goals.

Nice handy free from the umpires there

Shocking effort from Donaghy, not a 45 either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,895 ✭✭✭Poor_old_gill

Donaghy has been horrendous so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭Al_Coholic

Donaghy has been worse than useless so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,118 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Tyrone should have had 2 goals and Kerry's last point was never a 45.

Will somebody stuff a raw spud in Karneys gob!!

Both teams missing chances. Tyrone missing the goal chance and more points though, surely going to cost them.

enjoyable first half considering the conditions

Tyrone are getting uncontested shots repeatedly. Our backs are asleep.

    Excellent match so far.

Skill level on both sides has been very high and the game has been a lot more open than I thought it would be .

Tyrone have missed 3 or 4 scoreable chances and could come to regret that.

Correct decision made to black card Marc O'Se.I thoyght Deegan would bottle but he got it right in black carding him.

Camera work has been diabolical.Half the kickouts have been missed and they missed they missed Morgans great free only catching the ball sailing over the bar.How difficult is it for the people in charge of the camera to just concentrate on following the action and cut out all the pointless replays and reaction shots.

That's a very Donegal like performance from Kerry so far with nobody in the FF line at times.

Tbh Tyrone should be ahead with better decision making.

According to Sky commentary, O Sé's pulldown was just an 'instinctive' move for a defender having lost his man. Nothing more than a natural reaction.

Would the same thing be said had a Tyrone player committed a cynical pulldown?

    Black card, all day long.

Poor colm a bit isolated there on the panel. At least he realises Kerry are winning.

Isnt it great to see Bernard Brogan on the ads. Puts a bit of a gloss on the day eh.

Fascinating game of football so far, in spite of the conditions. Second half is going to a be a serious dog-fight, Tyrone need a goal to blow it open, Kerry won't expect to be chasing the game!

Not sure who joe brolly is hoping will win.

Not surprised Donaghy is gone. He was useless in the first half. He relies so much on his height, Tyrone well had his measure and that missed point in the first half was shocking.

Serious credits due their 7th game this campaign and they should be a couple infront ,Tyrone have kept Cooper as a spectator

    Nice dive there JOD :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭ProudDUB

God, that's shocking from Morgan. Those 2 cheap pts could be the winning of the game for Kerry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭Al_Coholic

The change seems to have worked

Nice dive, JOD. Big lead for Kerry now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Kerry to push on now and win by 4/5
