Im a vegan and only stayed tracking my daily intake a few months ago. Meeting my protein with the help of a shake but realised I was only taking in 10g fat each day for the past ten years (eat pretty much the same stuff each day) ! Have started eating seeds so now upto 35g fat each day. Im a female eating 1800 calories. Does the body need more fat? Most info on the net is about effects of too much fat so not sure if this is harmful, side effects, hormones etc. Anyone offer any insight?

Hormones production and absorbing/storing fat soluble vitamins. Probably the reason olive oil is added to your typical Mediterranean salad

Add a little olive oil to salads and cook with a little coconut fat.

Dont really cook- dinner is usually a load of steamed veg and have hated taste of butter, oil etc since I was a kid. Will eat more seeds or nuts I guess if have to increase. Whats the minimum fat recommended per body weight do you know?

Thanks a million. Was looking for some facts rather then eating fat for sake of it!! Recommends 20% for females minimum so will aim for 40g. Am gradually building up number of calories I eat so seeds and nuts will be how I increase. Cheers!!
