    http://www.agriculture.gov.ie/media/migration/farmingschemesandpayments/basicpaymentscheme/2015forms/ANC2015TC420150505V6110515.pdf

3.2. Minimum Stocking Density of 0.15 livestock units per forage
    hectare in 2015
The retention period is seven consecutive months within the scheme
year where the stocking density on the holding has to be equal or
greater than 0.15 livestock units per forage hectare. In addition to
maintaining 0.15 livestock units for a minimum retention period of
seven consecutive months, applicants must also maintain an annual
    5
average of 0.15 livestock units calculated over the 12 months of the
scheme year. Applicants must own, possess, hold and maintain the
livestock required to maintain the minimum stocking level, and there
will be a continued recognition of applicants, who will not meet the
minimum stocking requirement due to recognised constraints imposed
on the holding. Where it is established that an applicant does not own
the animals used to calculate the minimum stocking density the
applicant will be deemed ineligible for payment under the Scheme
except in the case of Contract Rearing see 3.3.
Examples of seven consecutive month period are: 1 January to 31 July
inclusive, 15 February to 15 September inclusive, 19 May to 19
    December inclusive.

How long do you have the 15 animals? They would all be counted as .6 of a livestock unit as they are under 24 months.

There are two rules you need to satisfy

    1) an annual average stocking rate of .15 lu per ha. So in your case you would need 8 animals under 2 years (i.e. 8 * .6 lu) for the entire year to satisfy this rule. (Or the 15 animals you have would suffice if you held them for just over half the year, although to satisfy rule 2 you'd need to keep them for seven months).

2)The seven month rule, whereby you have a minimum stocking rate per hectare of .15 lu for seven consecutive months.

ive only purchased the 13 calves in last 2 months but have had the 2 heifers for the last 14 months me thinks im goina miss out am I?

You might be lucky, I enquired before and I think that they calculate on a day basis. If my calc is correct, I think that if you had the calves on your holding on the 18/06/15 or before you will just about qualify. Thats going with a 30 ha figure, is your reference area slightly above or below 30 Ha?

If you'd qualify you would not be paid until 2016 as you will not have satisfied the 7 month rule before Dec 31st

    just below 30 hectares 29.2 I think

If you had the calves before 18th June I reckon you'd be ok. I would ring the dept. and tell them your scenario and ask them to do the calculation just to be sure.

Your just above the .15 lu /ha annual requirement. If you had the calves before the 18th June you should barely qualify for payment.

You'd have to contact the dept in January 2016 for payment as you won't have satisfied the requirement before the Sept payment run.

Do you know what date you got the calves exactly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭patjack

Although readings AP's post above it looks like you mightn't qualify as the the seven month period looks like it only starts when you hit the minimum stocking rate. So for June you wouldn't be hitting the minimum stocking rate at the start.

Best ring the dept to clarify.

Yes need to be careful, had a neighbour who was a day short and lost out. Not sure if he managed to appeal or not in the end and get something.

I wonder what the rate of payment will be this year it seems to be cut a little every year since the banking collapse
It's small amounts every year so people don't make too much fuss about it.
I think there is also some review on land that will be eligible for anc going forward.

Hmm I'll only satisfy the 7 month rule in mid October.
Do they make you wait until Jan in this case or are you sure there are not other runs in the interim ? thanks

    The new disadvantage area payment.
    areas of natural constraint

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,611 ✭✭✭djmc

Wouldn't be too surprised if it had something to do with south African political
They seem to change the name the rules and the goalposts every few years in case we might figure a scheme out.
Remember area aid we just had to write down cow numbers and sign at the bottom

Outfarm is actually quite good ground but most of the land ariund it is near the black stairs and of poor quality so got dragged in.
Few areas near home would be disadvantaged too so we're wondering has home been dragged into it too.

    What's the av payment /ac?
