healthy weight gain

I've recently lost about a stone and a half in weight, so I'm now just under 7 stone, and I'm 5 foot 4. I wasn't trying to loose weight, but tend to eat less when I'm under stress.

I'm now pretty sorted and really happy with every other aspect of life, but I'm struggling to get back to a healthier weight.

I try to have three meals a day, like porridge for breakfast , soup or a sandwich for lunch and chicken or tuna salad for dinner. But usually fairly small portions.

Would something like protein shakes be a good idea? I still don't really have any interest in food, and I've gone off things I used to like.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Smoothies in addition to what you're eating maybe? Much better to have some real food, even if it's blended, than protein shakes.

Nuts and nut butters are packed with good fats and calories. A couple of pint of whole milk with your peanut butter and banana sandwich will increase your calories daily too without too much effort.

thank you! that's stuff I could absolutely do, and I wouldn't have thought of. That's a great help.

    Milkshake with:
    Full fat milk
    Spoon of peanut butter
    Spoon of nutella
    A banana
    Some walnuts
    Whey if you got it

I haven't counted up the calories but I'm sure it's tons.

A normal blender would be ok but really you'd want something like a nutribullet.

The best way to make sure any weight gain is healthy weight gain is to do some resistance exercise so you gain more lean mass rather than fat.

Increase portions, you'll get used to the sizes of them. Just add a bit more to every meal and keep doing so.

I was the same a couple of years ago, lost loads of weight due to stress. Got back to a healthy weight eventually. Now I've put a bit too much on and trying to lose it :o
