Sitting in the corner, spitting out tunes randomly to show off. Im sick of it , sick and tired of it. Theres only so much Jeff Buckley I can listen to.

    Favourites include:

    Kings of Leon
    Jeff Buckley
    James Blunt

I blame the women, flocking to these with a wet stain like a snail following them. Thats great and all, you do what you gotta do to get that tail, but I came here to have the craic, a few beers and a laugh, not for you to have impromptu performances.

How do you guys feel? Are you one of them? If so, whats your motivation?

A guitar would look better on you than all that envy.

Better yet, get yourself some sax lessons and steal all them ladies away from the guitarists. Bitches love a saxophone.

Guitar wanker is bad, but even worse is guitar **** mate, you all know the one "oh no, he's actually really good, he played whelans/the academy/button factory before"

Really? Because he's playing cannonball on an out of tune guitar that cost about thirty quid. (although that could be Damien Rice)

OP, you're lucky. I knew a guy that was a one man band - including bagpipes.

I take it you don't play!

It never fails to pull the chicks. You don't even need to play, when the chicks come, just tell them you broke a string earlier on, a g-string, ask the chick for a loan :)

What sort of parties are you going to, OP? I don't think that has ever happened at a party that I've been to.

Sure can't beat a sing-de-song-along, acoustic uptown funk or daft punk gets all yo' shorties jumpin.
The untalented just drink, talk shop/football/cars. Saxophone could indeed be your only saviour if not digit dexterous.

In the land of Carlsberg every single shop rightly has beer, powertools, toolbelts and saxophones available.

Beware though the recent emergence of stomp box guy, whom 'plays' a $100 'plywood box' of sorts.

Tried to avoid those parties like the plague.

What annoys me isn't just the singing and guitar playing, it's the thought that they lugged that guitar around, keeping an eye on it, staying sober, and you just knew it was gonna be inflicted on everyone at some stage.

And then the shushers. To increase the annoyance.

Worse when you go to a quiet pub and in they come, buy their glass of Guinness and spend half the night tuning the instruments.

If this is saying that, because we don't like some banjo picking gob****e murdering a crap middle of the road song at 2 in the morning, we have no culture then I'm ok with that.

And what's with all these miserable trad songs at a session? It's all

"The Tans came and shot my spuds,
and me cattle fell off a cliff,
like in the ending of The Field only worse,
and the wife got leprosy and died too,
on the night of the big wind struck so it t'was,
Well I took to the bed for the rest of my days,
oh and I'm a raging alcoholic too in case you didn't know"

A bit of optimism wouldn't go astray like.

I should point out I love all those songs I mentioned. I just don't want to told to whist by some cnut trying to sing them unless I've paid to hear them.

If you want to play the guitar in public, then learn it first. Maybe even take a few lessons. And strumming doesn't count as playing.

I think most people are just being polite TBH. I've been at house parties where someone started playing in the living room, without asking and when everyone was talking. Seriously egocentric.
