    From RTE TEN:

Paul Dunne, the amateur golfer from Greystones who wowed the British Open last weekend, will give his first television interview on this week's Saturday Night with Miriam.

Also joining Miriam is Sunday Game presenter Michael Lyster, who will talk about his recent heart attack and his return to TV.

'Tiny Dancer' Lily-Mae Morrison and her parents Judith and Leighton will talk about Lily-Mae being cancer-free after raising vital funds for experimental treatment in the US. The family will share their experience and what they've been through as they near the end of Lily-Mae's treatment.

Former RTÉ presenter Bibi Baskin will be in studio to speak about her recent move back to Ireland after owning and running a hotel in India for many years.

Cork football star and nine-time All-Ireland winner Valerie Mulcahy and her new wife Meg Blyth will talk about married life since their June wedding.

And there will be music from Corner Boy with a performance of their single "Untie the Noose".

A pretty big line-up... in terms of quantity, that is. :o;)

Michael shouldn't disappoint, though. It's great to see him back on the Sunday Game after his health scare. :):)

All RTE 'light entertainment' programmes should be sponsored by a health insurance company - VHI, Layla, Glo Health

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

That's a decent line up in fairness in having Paul Dunne and Michael Lyster. Genuinely interested in both stories.

The fact they've reincarnated Bibi Baskin as well is a magnificant achievement. Kudos.

    Yes, it's getting worse.

Tonight's song sounds like it was hand picked by RTE's Entertainment Department.

"Untie the noose" - what a strange name for a song

Doesn't have the most pleasant connotations, either.

    "Someone will have won £5,000."

Audience applaud and burst of theme plays. Who's making such decisions tonight?

Cancer, heart disease and golf. Three of my least favourite things.

    I don't mind golf, actually.

But this interview's off to a flat start... :o:o

I have zero interest in golf, I find it incredibly boring but I must admit I was rooting for Paul last weekend. I hope he does well, he seems like a nice lad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Paul did very well, it was unfortunate to be joint leader going into the final round (with about 20 players within 3 shots of the lead). If he had been a few shots back the media hype would not have been so large.

Hopefully he will learn from the experience and his day will come.

I definitely prefer it to cancer and heart disease.

With the very greatest of respect to him, though, that was a very flat interview - nothing exciting about it whatsoever. :o:o:o

If your child gets a rare dangerous illness in this country, you'd better be rich or have well connected friends who can organise a high profile fund raising campaign.

For every successful result like Lily Mae there are many others who can't get the money. Great to see her doing well but the system is all wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

This is all a bit awkward, isn't it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

To be fair to him, before last weekend he was an ordinary guy, this week he is a household name. He is not used to being interviewed by a chat show host.

There is something refreshing about someone like Paul who hasn't been "*Carr-ed to death".

Carr Communications used to media train people, I believe they've a new name these days, I won't mention it though
    :D

I can't stop looking at the gap between Leighton's chair and the other one, for some reason... :o:o

I've had to turn the volume down for this interview, Cancer is a seriously sh1tty disease, there isn't a family in Ireland who hasn't been affected but .......the thought of my child getting cancer terrifies me :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,320 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

She didn't tell Lily-Mae to 'stay there'!

Exactly, this time two weeks ago he could only dream about being mentioned on this thread.

It's great that the referendum passed and the positivity that comes from it, but ffs, i don't care about these people. It's boring.

And we've already had Una Mullally and Panti talking to Miriam about it.

I never have been and never will be a homophobe, and I was happy with the Yes vote - but at this stage, it kind of does feel like it's being rubbed in our faces... :o:o:o:o

I absolutely agree. The fact it's even an issue is irritating. When i say i don't care, i just mean get over it.

My daughter was telling all the kids in plsyschool that they could now marry who ever they wanted. It could be either a boy or a girl as they wished..
Teacher asked her what's that about and my 5yr old replied 'sure the people if Ireland had a vote and it's all sorted now, people can marry who they want'

She had enough of the Cowboys in RTE, so she went to work with the Indians.

What's the story with her accent?

The fact that people are going on and on about it is making more of it as an issue than it was before the referendum, in my opinion.
