    Hey

Does anyone use one of those body mas fat scales, and would they recommend them? I've heard they give kind of inaccurate results and a caliper is the only way to go...

    Thanks

They're not very accurate and change too readily. Temperature and hydration can change the result.

The benefit they would have is to show a trend. If you don't take the figure as an accurate one but use it under the exact same conditions every time, you will be able to see if it is going down or going up.

Calipers are more accurate but that can be changed by the person taking the measurements. But even with the good ones, the calculators used to generate the bodyfat % from the measurements aren't great .

Tl;dr If you want to assess changes in bodyfat % you can get a scales but don't judge by the number but by the trend over time. My opinion: save your money, take photos every couple of weeks and use those and how your clothes feel to judge.

My clothes can be a bit temperamental is this still a reliable indicator?

    Yes.

But if it persists, buy maternity jeans.
