so Mrs Ch & I like to perform food experiments from time to time. She came up with a great idea to do a 24hr fast, more from a spiritual perspective than anything else. So Monday we will consume nothing but water, black tea, black coffee.

I tried before and failed, couldn't go to bed on an empty stomach. I could go all day till bedtime then I caved.

Anyone else tried it & did you find it difficult?

i did intermittent fasting for a while 16 hour fast, 8 hour window to eat and a couple of times i ate everything in 2-3 hours rather than the 8.

most of the hunger pains and not sleeping from hunger stuff is just habit, you'll teach yourself out of that quickly enough.

if you want to sort of cheat you could start your fast around 9pm. eat something at 8.30 or 9, sleep. and then eat again before bed at 9pm

Article in this weekends Guardian by Jeanette Winterson, fasted for 11 days under medical supervision (at a clinic) etc. Am contemplating trying it myself but it seems so impractical right now. Cooking for family I just don't know if I could do fast myself while still having to be around food/kitchen. Would love to hear how you get on.

I fasted for 4 or 5 days once. Found it very easy. I had taken the week off work and wasn't doing much which probably helped. Didn't receive any spiritual enlightenment.
