A friend of mine has a Tom Tom sat nav and has been unable to upload the maps for England and Ireland to it. He purchased the maps but now every time he turns on the device it is saying maps unavailable.

Has anyone had any experience like this before?

Try a full reset of the device and then reinstall the maps.

Tried the reset, no joy. The new maps that were purchased for it don't seem to be compatiable with the device. Is it possible that the wrong maps (i.e. format) was purchased or are all maps purchased from Tom Tom compatible with all devices?

I was told that some "Jailbreak" maps were used on this device before, is there a possibility that this may be affecting the device now?

    Thanks for your help

If the device was altered its possible its affecting the maps being loaded.
When you connect the device & run TomTom Home does the maps show up on my computer location and /or my device location?

When I connect the device to my laptop, 'Tom Tom Home' opens automatically.

If I do the following in Windows 7: Start>Computer..... I can see that the device has been recognised.

The screenshots attached to this post are all the options available to me inside 'Tom Tom Home'.
