I couldn't find a thread on it but meteor are at the moment advertising a sim only plan on

    https://store.meteor.ie/sim-only-plans?linkid=HPCarousel3_01072015_SIMO

31.20 a month for Unlimted calls and texts to all networks. 15Gb of 4G data and 50 roaming EU minutes or texts in the EU. Not bad. Gonna see if I can get moved onto it later.

It was discussed already but be aware it is a 6 months offer so set an alert to make sure to cancel or switch plans again else be paying €39...

How is this better than the 20 euro a month prepay offer from 3?

    http://www.three.ie/eshop/sim-only-plans/prepay-sim-only/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

You only get 4G for three (sic) weeks on the 3 offer.

I was onto chat and the agent confirmed that this will be available for at least 12 months although I couldn't see any time frame specified on the site for the sim only deals.

That would be a great deal if I had a CRO or VAT number to use. Any way around this?

I thought the three one needed at least 2 numbers to sign up for that? Does it include 4g and what about roaming allowance for data?

    Anything is better than three.

I could rant for days about them.

Unless there offering has drastically changed you'll have used your 20 allowance within a fortnight unless everyone else you know is on three.

not sure i did add my wife but i dont recall that being a precondition

yes 4g and three like home for data so no charges in uk and some other eu countries as long as you are on 3

no mention of 6 months on the page linked ?

Emobile 20 quid plus vat needs proof of being a business, i faxed them a bill in my company name. Sitting here in tenerife with all mobile and landline calls free, 250 meg roaming data, and free texts.

    Happy with that.

With all the outages 3 has had, i would not be happy with them.

That's really cool that it covers you for your texts and minutes when roaming too. I assume it's free to receive calls then too, yeah?

Is it possible to get an add on to get more than the 250mb data roaming per month? Vodafone have their excellent red roaming, 2.99 a day for 200mb data (per day, not per month) and calls and texts like at home..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Gave them a ring. There's no add ons for data roaming and once you go past the 250mb it's 20c+VAT per mb after. 4G is only available in Ireland on the plan (which might be a good thing if you've only 250mb).

Still seems like a great deal! There's no 12 month contract on the sim only, you can sign up and get out whenever but they may change their pricing at any stage, but it's been the same for the last 9 months.

    I am currently on 48
(no long term commitment, just a monthly rolling plan )

    €20 monthly :
1,000 mobile mins to any mobile network
All texts* to any mobile network
    8 GB internet
    Unlimited messaging on WhatsApp
    +60 landline minutes

    http://www.48months.ie/membership-plans

+10 Eur free Credit if referred through my referral link, which I could send in PM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

As far as I know, the roaming on 48 isn't very good, or may not even be possible?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭leandrolorenzi

48 is an MVNO operating on the O2 network.
I could not say the signal is good all over Ireland, I live in Cork, and I admit I have no issues for voice, nor for data.
TBH when abroad I use it just to receive and send texts, as I found any usage out of the included plan (or addes.on) a bit pricey

Anyway if someone would post their feedback about 48 signal it would be appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,417 ✭✭✭griffdaddy

I've never had any real issues with Three and since they've taken over o2 their network has gone from strength to strength. Obviously there were one or two days with coverage issues but I'd almost expect that with such a big merge. I'd advise people to try out a prepaid sim first and see what the coverage is like in and around their house. Their 4g is very fast and their roaming offers are great, especially in the UK

I called the Loyalty Team and asked about this. It is badly worded on the web-site, so I asked lots of questions.

The lady I spoke to said that they'll call me after 5 months - it's recorded on the call and I asked her to repeat the statement. (I'll set a reminder anyway...) TBF she hinted that there would be another offer to replace this one.

In case it hasn't been covered the €31.20 plan is:

    15Gb Data (4Gb)
    Unlimited Calls
    Unlimited texts
    50 mins EU roaming
    50 Texts EU roaming
    50 mins Int'l Calls
    50 Texts Int'l

    Decent offer IMO.

    [NO connection to Meteor BTW]

Also free to take calls, data of 250 meg roaming, 15 gig at home. I asked in the talkto forum about data addon to increase roaming and was told yep, heres the link. It didnt work so when i rang them they said i didnt qualify for it, but the could give me another 250 meg data for
    THIRTY euro plus VAT.

The wifes phone is showing 4g, my S3 doesnt do 4g :(

No thanks, i have a three uk data sim and paid 14.99 stg for 3 gig. Using it in the ipad to type this. I am a VERY heavy user.

€30 plus vat instead of €20 plus vat you mean, or you'd still be paying the €20 plus vat and then the add on is €30 on top??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,070 ✭✭✭ScouseMouse

Nope! I get 250 meg roaming data by default. I was told i could not buy the 1gig for 14.99 euro as i was on a deal with data roaming already. SO, i could not buy the gig deal as i was a business customer. BUT, they could offer me another 250 meg for THIRTY euro plus VAT

    I politely declined.

Anyone know when iD, the Carphone Warehouse MVNO, will be launched? Prices?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,747 ✭✭✭Klingon Hamlet

I'm waiting for emobile to call me back...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭StaticNoise

iD will be launching in the next few days, provisionally a start on 27th July. However, this may change slightly.
The customer care team, porting services, and some test SIM cards have been released.

To be honest, this will not be the most groundbreaking MVNO, and you can expect capped charges. Unlimited everything (albeit slower speeds on data) for €30 per month.

I'd wait and see for yourself, but don't get too excited. There will be a launch offer, online only.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Static Noise, do you think iD will compete with the emobile offer?

Also, does anyone know if emobile send missed call messages? Vodafone used to send a message if you were out of coverage with the callers number, my current provider blueface don't do this so you don't know if you've missed any calls or not.

Emobile/Eircom do send missed call message. You will get a message saying

"Hi, you missed 1 call from me at 08x xxxxxxx on 15/07 at 4.34 pm. Press the Call button to return my call. From your eMobile mailbox"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Thanks for confirming. It's the simple things like that I miss, so glad to hear I'll be getting it with emobile too :) unless iD ends up having a much better offer!

Nope. You technically need to be a registered business or have a trading name, but you could always just give a company name (which you've made up) C/O your home address. Or, you could just use a trading name.

Don't forget, the Three business plans are exclusive of VAT.
