    Hi, I am wondering if I would need planning permission to change the timber frame single glaze windows on my Semi-d house to double glazed windows with a very similar style PVC frame. My immediate thought would be No, I dont need planning permission, but as I am (slightly) altering the appearance of the front of the house, I thought I would double check.

    House is in west dublin, no change in size of any of the windows either.
    Thanks.

    unless the property is listed, or every house in the vicinity has the same style, then no, you dont.

    cool thanks. Not a listed property, and every house in the estate has a different style and colour of window.

    the you can claim exemption under section 4 (1)(h)

    development consisting of the carrying out of works for the maintenance, improvement or other alteration of any structure, being works which affect only the interior of the structure or which do not materially affect the external appearance of the structure so as to render the appearance inconsistent with the character of the structure or of neighbouring structures;
