Good chance it's not Guinness anyway, might be Football Special or a Black Russian with a Guinness head.

Ugh Guinness, that's loike so mass-produced. You'd think the chiold's parents would have bought him a decent craft stout.

Young lads these days don't know how good they have it, back when I was his age I was lucky to get the crumbs from the bottom of a packet of crisps when I was brought to the pub.

It's astonishing how many people who would call themselves guinness drinkers do not even know its a beer -and the worst kind are the ones who start sneering and mocking those who get it "wrong".

Wow, you still don't get it. Guinness a beer in the same way a ferrari is a car.

Stout is a beer in the say way a fire engine is a vehicle.

Think Guinness Beer just looks funny purely because Guinness is a brand name in a way that almost transcends the generic designation of beer, as opposed to denying the categorization in itself.

It's like saying IPad tablet or, for oldies, Walkman personal cassette player.

Well you wouldn't append the word "beer" after any brand really.

Can I have a Heineken Beer?
Can I have a Smithwicks Beer?
Can I have a Carlsberg Beer?

You'd just refer to the brand, in the case of Guinness, that would be, well, Guinness.

Yes, 'Guinness beer' looks odd, but so does every other brand name with the word 'beer' attached. Nobody says "x beer." They just say I'm drinking a "pint of x."

Anyway, the central point is that Cormac thinks beer means lager, and Guinness means Guinness.

Maybe it's just me but the thread can probably just about survive this calamitous category violation.

I used to think there was nothing worse than a beer snob. I've been proved wrong, a beer pedant is much much worse. :pac:
