That's a great price. The M7 was retailing for around 550 when it came out. I'm still using it. Beast of a phone!

I had one and it was superb except the GPS was awful. It was never right but I have been told it is only a small batch that had that problem. If that problem has been addressed and I'm sure it has then I might get one again as I have an iphone currently and I hate it.

Battery life is very bad for those who will be affected by such things, would recommend buying an on the go charger to use with it.

Could this be unlocked pretty easily

Required top up €20. So does that mean you have to splash out €169 ?

I have been using the M7 for almost 2 years. Never had any issues with it until about 2 weeks ago (charging and headphone jack issues). Sent it back via CPW (HTC have 2 year warranty) and it was replaced with a new one free of charge. very good service

great phone although I havent had the issues with GPS or battery drain mentioned above.

Had one of the originals. Great phone but I'm too used to a 5.5" to go back to a 4.7"

really? I found the battery to be equal to or better than similar class phones. Definitely puts iPhone batteries to shame.

The Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 would be a better buy I think. Not much in the price difference (20 only...). The spec of the Smart Ultra would be superior in almost every way.

I was about to pull the trigger on this until I read that there's no micro SD card slot, I've a Moto G 4G so this would obviously be an upgrade.

When this says 20 Euro monthly what do they mean? It also says prepay and no contract? Confused a bit! Is it just the first month you need to top up by 20?

The downside to that phone for some people is its size

I am wondering the same. I have an M7 and think it is a great phone. I would buy another for my son if I could move it easily to another operator.

It's rubbish on most phones under €200

Its what you'd expect on a €150 phone.

I disagree. VF's Ultra 6 has an excellent camera.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 mbshrekito

The camera is actually very good - don't be fooled by the hype around pixels - if you want real photography use a camera - if you want reasonable snapshots this is perfectly adequate.

Low light performance is not the best in class despite the ultrapixels, but the camera is much better than you could expect on a €150 euro phone - if you order on line you don't have to buy the topup (so it appears....).

Strange, it says they are in stock but when I go to the prepay tab is says they are unavailable

Having same problem here, might try again later.

I used to have this and swapped it for an LG G3 a few months ago - worst decision ever. The M7 sound and size is just way better. Hope it's back in stock soon that price is amazing :)

Possibly, But this is just a gorgeous device in the hand with an unreal screen and speakers....

This may throw a spanner in the works as I was set to get the Ultra 6

Ultra 6 or M7 guys, Leaning towards getting Ultra 6 when its back in stock is that the better phone?

I'm confused too, obviously specs wise Ultra 6, but M7 was a beauty when it came out n I'm sure it's build quality would be much better and it has Aluminium back to plastic on Ultra 6

Yep, seems to be gone everywhere.

Ah well not to worry, I'd probably have ended up returning it anyway.

Use http://unlock.ie/ or a similar website. Alternatively, use one of those phone repair/unlocking places you see around towns and cities.

If you can still get it for this price the M7 is a far superior phone, have had mines for two years and apart from a dodgey usb port it's a cracking phone.

Size and build quality make it feel truly brilliant in your hand.

Best phone I've ever owned. Got the M8 now but I don't think it is quite as polished as the M7 was.

I have both too - I prefer the M8 but the M7 was/is excellent... I ordered one as a gift

  • This was a stonking bargain....and I saw it posted here the first day as well!! I'm in the market for a sub €200 phone for my brother's birthday in October. Why did I wait? WHYY?!!?

Checked the CPW in Harvery Normans here in Limerick this morning and unsurprisingly was told that they're all sold out.

would be good to know if they'll restock,or was it once off deal to clear the blue ones out

  • I'd say it was a once off to clear them out. I remember them doing a similar thing with Galaxy S3 phones last year.

I ordered a silver one. Put it in shopping basket when I read the BA at 8.00. Went back later in the day when I'd read the reviews and it was still there so I clicked purchase now. Got email confirmation of my order and payment received on Thur but nothing since. Thanks OP - keeping my fingers crossed!

^ well seems you got lucky 2-3 days and it should be with you if payment got processed.

Only replaced my M7 last month after two years. It's brilliant phone, well worth that price and I'm actually considering buying one as a back-up to my S6, which is mental I know.

Edit - Ahh it's gone at that price. No surprise, that's an amazing deal.

Not so lucky - have just received an email saying "Out of stock" - no other info. Not at all impressed with CPW - they took payment 5 days ago. Tried contacting customer service by phone and email over the last few days but got nowhere with either.

I just picked up one of these from my local CPW this evening :-)
When I spotted the OP, they were already out of stock on the website but I was passing the shop on Saturday and asked. They'd only sold their last one earlier.
The girl looked in the stock for other shops and Cavan & Balbriggan were still listing. She called Cavan for me and though the phone was there, it was reserved. Balbriggan wasn't answering phone.
Anyway, I went on and forgot all about it till Tuesday when I spotted one with a lad at work. I called Cavan on spec and it was still there and available. They transferred it down today and the missus is happy!!

@Furzy, I hope you still get it. I didn't get yours as mine is the blue one

In - Settings>Tell HTC and Error Reporting - I am getting a message in red saying This is a test device.... and therefore I cannot switch off the Tell HTC function which collects critical information (and a lot more besides).

I tried changing it but the replacement was the same, it is such good value I don't want a refund. Sorry for going off topic but has anyone else been able to fix this without voiding the warranty.

Thanks OP, lovely phone and the blue is nicer than I expected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,893 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

Your HTC One is probably S-OFF. Check in the bootloader.
Apparently that prompts the stock firmware to report that its in Test Mode.

You can either ignore it, or flash another ROM (since you're S-OFF already).

Potentially your phone could actually be a refurb though, and CPW could have re-flashed it.

Mine is saying that too. I understand these have been sitting on the shelf in CPW for the past few yrs, and wonder if they may have been from some pre-general availability batch, with slightly different software?

Anyway I'm going to flash the Lollipop 5.1 Google Play Edition, as the standard M7 software is still on 5.0.2 and possibly not likely to develop further.
I expect that will get rid of that text

I'm unable to get it unlocked. Tried few unlockers on ebay and other irish sites and they all sent the same code which is not working :(

    Yep, mine is S-OFF

Actually, having problems unlocking too - code not recognised.
If I flash a new ROM, will I not bypass this?

I"m no help about unlocking tbh, but you could try this:

They NEVER reply. Ever. Submitted a code there three times via my account and each time I never got the code or any message at all. Had to get it through their Facebook reps.

  • Crikey I thought it would be simple to get it unlocked with the many eBay sellers offering the service for only a few quid. I'm still trying to get my hands on one of these phones from CPW but I'm wondering now if it's worth the hassle.
