Hearing rumours that the Airbus A350 will be on demo to an un-named airline in Dublin on Wednesday 8th July? Can anyone confirm?

Well Aer Lingus has them on order, besides that an awful lot of the worlds lessors are based in Dublin/Ireland so it could be one of those.

Apparently it could be on demo to a lessor from which Alitalia is considering leasing some A350's

One of the A350s was at Heathrow a couple of weeks ago for airport compatibility testing; like the 787 it draws a huge amount of current when hooked-up to the ground power supply, not all gates can handle it.

So it would seem logical for it to visit the various airports where it will operate.

Edit: Just thinking, would Ethiopian be the leading candidate for first revenue visit? Their A350s are due in early 2017, ahead of Etihad. Assuming that Qatar don't surprise us in the meantime.

Plus BA had that aircraft in for their open day.

Well the B787 was in back in 2011 for a leasing conference. Perhaps we could see similar for the A350?

Cant see any schedule on the Airbus A350 site or blog.

Seems quaint that an airline or lessor would want to "inspect" an airliner like a farmer inspecting a cow!

It's not likely that they'll decline to buy it based on how it looks, really...

"What do you mean it doesn't have whitewall tyres as an option? Take this heap of junk back to Toulouse, we're switching to Boeing!"

Hypothetical Farmer's Journal review of the A350:

"Ah shure she'd be a cheap auld bird to keep...she'd run on the whiff of a rag soaked in A1 so she would :D"

You get a far better impression of something when you can see the physical end product and touch and smell it, plus I'm sure the lessor wants to be able to impress its customers and wine and dine them. It may be a cow to a farmer but it's billions worth of metal and plastic to an airline and lessor.

    Seems pretty spot on info.

    .......

When this happens we could see even more camera's around than when the ET B787 visited!!!!!

EDIT: got text from a mate, apparently its being organised by AerCap and they will be using Aer Lingus's Hanger 6.
So may be hard to snap shots of her on the ground then.

Can I ask, do you know the reason for the visit?
    Leasing company?
    Airline specific?
    Airport equip trials?

Aer Lingus must be having a look as well, heard from a mate they are doing a draw for employees to have a trip on her.

    .
What would be the reason for it to visit SNN?

GECAS and Aercap have main offices in Shannon.

    Extract from West Park website:
DID YOU KNOW that GECAS and AerCap are the two largest aircraft leasing companies in the world today and that between them, they have over 3,000 aircraft leased globally – this equates to up to 30% of the world’s fleet?

The bosses want to see what they're buying too but don't want to go to DUB....

It'll be in Aer Lingus for a demo flight on Wed.

More correctly, it will be in DUB next Wednesday as per the info posted above.
It will most probably be inside the Aer Lingus hanger before its demo flight at approx 1pm.
An EI mate told me that it is being organised by AerCap and that EI had an internal competition to get 2 seats on that flight.......

......my (now ex-) mate applied and failed!!!!

Fooking bastards, the very time I wont be in DUB!!! Dying to see that bus

This might be related to the demo flight, probably a PR event for their investors to show off their latest fleet addition:
    http://www.aercap.com/newsroom/view?reqid=2063502

June 30, 2015 - AerCap Holdings N.V. (NYSE: AER) took delivery of its first Airbus A350 XWB during a ceremony at the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse today. AerCap immediately handed the aircraft over to Vietnam Airlines on a long-term lease, making the airline the world's second operator of the A350 XWB.
"We are pleased to be leasing our first A350 XWB to Vietnam Airlines, which is one of the most vibrant airlines in Asia," said Philip Scruggs, President & Chief Commercial Officer of AerCap. "The A350 XWB is an excellent addition to our fleet of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft and will be a core part of our widebody fleet in the future with the ultimate objective of generating value for our customers and investors."
"We thank AerCap for its ongoing confidence in our products and endorsement of their long term investment value," added Fabrice Brégier, President and CEO of Airbus. .............."
AerCap has one of the most attractive order books in the industry including large positions of the Airbus A350 XWB, the Airbus A320neo family, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Boeing 737 MAX. AerCap is also Airbus' largest customer.

I expect we will see a large contingent on the mound at DUB this Wednesday

I take it nearly everyone was down at the threshold of 28 for the landing, I saw only one other person by E6 on the southside, half a dozen on opposite side and 3 by E5.

Might go to city centre to see it. I'm thinking somewhere between Beckett Bridge and East Link?

I was just sent the video of the A350 landing this morning at Dublin.
Not a great morning for photographs by the look of things, but it didn't spoil the view.

I have to go against the grain here...

That nose looks like the designer fell asleep right in the middle of drawing it and his pencil slipped.

I'd say quite a bit more advanced science went into it than that...
