Hi guys, can I ask advice on cycling ring of Kerry please?
I was lucky enough to get an entry, training was going fine was out twice a week & doing 80km spins at the weekends. About a 4 weeks ago I got sick and spent a week in hospital and 2 weeks recovering. I went yesterday and did tour de burden without having been on the bike in 4 weeks. It went 'ok' , I think the wind, rain & fog got to me especially when I came off the bike at the bottom of cork screw hill and lashed my knee to the ground whilst still clipped in. I picked myself up and finished taking me 6 hrs including food stops & fall..

Today I feel fine (except bruises & cuts) but my leg muscles are t screaming to avoid the bike. I've never done the ring of Kerry and I'm looking for honest advice in whether I'm crazy trying to go ahead and do it? My plan for this week would be two spins during the week, 100km the weekend and the. 2 small spins midweek prior to the official day.

I've done a few marathons & adventure races Over the past 2 years so endurance is something I think I can manage.
    Really would appreciate your advice.
    Thanks

    You will be fine....
Its a handy enough spin enough vaseline and decent bib shorts and you will finish,
You will be amazed the mix of shapes, sizes, ages and bikes that some people finish on!

Stay in to the left, keep your eyes peeled for slower moving cyclists ahead of you and safely manoeuvre round them, keep listening for calls from behind you and you will be fine.
Keep pedalling its a great event to be part of you wont be on your own any part of the way if you feel a bit tired stop in any of the towns and watch the cyclists go by....Eat plenty along the way there will be loads of water stops.:cool:

I was thinking about this last night.
When you say hills what sort of meters are you climbing?
I am 100% you'll finish it no bother,
I will look through my Strava later and give you an idea of total meters climbed on the ROK for you to compare and to put your mind at ease...
