Ok so about 6 weeks ago I set a goal for myself to lose weight. I suceeded and lost 1stone 4pounds. Now I still have a bit of fat around the chest and a bit of a belly but I want to start building muscle now.

So my question is if I start doing sit ups, push ups and pull ups while I keep eating good and exercising would I be able to tone up the fat? Or should I lose more weight and then start doing weights and stuff

You can't "tone fat". It's not physical possible. To get a toned look, you simply need to lose the fat to give the muscle underneath definition.
But you should still start doing "weights and stuff" now. Because that's a good way to burn energy, and to build the muscle underneath the fat.

Yeah start to do weights, continue doing what your doing but up your protein intake per day, lower your carbs, and fat intake per day and u will see results!
Go to a nutritionist or personal trainer (qualified) and just tell him your aim and you want "macro numbers" (it all depends on your aim, height, weight, age, etc
You only need that and go off and exercise and keep track on your numbers per day that combined with gym,you will see amazing results!
Download the "myfitnesspal" app and scan everything u eat with that phone app and u will be keeping track and in total control!
It sounds complicated but download the app, get your macro numbers, and hit them everyday for a while along with exercise and you wont know yourself!
    Good luck man ðŸ‘

Thanks for the replies. So if i start doing weights now and keep doing the exercise would that mean I'd be burning fat while building muscle?

You don't really "burn fat" through exercise to any significant extent. Keeping up with a low-calorie diet will reduce your fat levels (as it has already been doing). (Appropriate) exercise will build muscle. You will want to adjust your diet to take in more protein (you have to build your muscle out of something) and correspondingly less carbs/fat. You should continue to lose fat but little or none of this will be attributable to the exercise; it will be largely attributable to the continuation of your diet.

You may note that, in terms of kilos, you are losing weight more slowly or not at all, but don't be discouraged; what's happening is that the fat you are losing through your diet is being offset by the muscle you are gaining.

The end result should be a more toned appearance, if that's what you want, but it will take time; certainly much longer than the six weeks you have already been dieting.

I can't see your condition or know what you look like but again I'd say do weights,
So just say one day do arms along with 10 mins of work on the core, the next day maybe chest along with core, shoulders along with core, etc but lift in a way that when you get to your 8th or 10th lift that you are barely able to do it, do that 3 times,
Up your protein, u need plenty of that to build muscle, I would say cut back on your fat per day and also your carbs! Download that app I was telling you about, and for the sake of 1 payment, go to a personal trainer,a proper qualified one who knows his stuff and get him up to do you up your macro numbers!
I'm on 73g fat per day, 170g carbs per day and 246g protein per day, but that's me!
im in no way qualified but One of My best friends is a personal trainer so I'm just telling you the bits I have picked up from him down through time!
If u really put in good effort in to the gym (YouTube some workouts) and stick to your macro numbers there is no doubt you will see big changes!

If you consume less calories than you burn through all your daily activity. Then you will burn fat. That's the underlying principle behind all weight loss.

Whether or not you build additional muscle is dependent on a lot of factors.
Starting off you probably will build some, but its not worth worrying about. You should focus on your main goal.

Dont do this. Stop reading all the crap on the internet. Keep eating well and start lifting weights. If your beginning out dips, pushups, pullups and squats/lunges will be enough for a while. build up some strength. Eat protein with all your meals but dont overcomplicate it. I

You should watch out with your nutrition, because you can burn your muscles instead of your fat.
