    Hey there folks,

For those of you that deadlift, which method do you prefer?

I have only recently started using the trapbar and I can say it's preferable, particularly for grip. Though I do try to hit both in the week.

    What about yourselves?

I think they're different movements tbh that focus on different plains of motion and muscle groups.

Why do you prefer a trap at grip?
What way do you grip the bar in a regular deadlift?

One thing I dislike about trapbar is that some models have raised handles which reduces the ROM a lot. It's more like a low rack pull. Novice lifters can mistake this for being stronger with the TB.

    Edit:
You could still lift more on a TB without high handles, especially if DL mechanics are lacking but it'll be closer than with high handles.

I tend to get clients to start on trap bar deadlifts and romanian deadlifts then progressively work them down to the floor for normal deadlifts.

Really depends on how good the mechanics are and some people IMO should NEVER do straight bar deadlifts from the floor due to really really big mobility issues (ankles and T spine the main ones)
