Period & Exercise

As I creep into my mid 30s, I am finding more and more that my period is affecting me in ways it never did before. I don't really get bad cramps so I am lucky that way, but I am finding that I am completely wiped out the week I have my period and I really struggle with the gym. Normally my issue with exercise is pure mental laziness, but once I am there I am happy out and I work away.

However, in the last two months I have found that during the week of my period I am wrecked coming home from work and when I managed to get to the gym, I just wasn't able at all and this was at day 3/4 when I normally almost finished up.

Anyone else experience this? I'm having my bloods done next week (just in case it is something medical), but I am wondering is there anything I could eat or do that might give me a bit more energy?

If your body is telling you to rest, then listen to it and don't feel guilty. See what your bloods reveal but I wouldn't worry too much about it, it sounds natural enough. For what it's worth, I'm like a zombie for about six days and have as much energy as a wet rag. :)

No helpful advice from me, just to say I am having the same problem. Its not just mental either, I notice myself to be weak and less agile if I do try to do anything.

I have terrible weakness and lethargy and most recently nausea  2/3 days in the run up, and bad cramping on day one. Day one is the worst. I lie on the couch from when I get home, and I struggle to even muster the energy to make the food I need to eat to take the painkillers I want to take. That bad.

After that I am usually ok, but only because my complete incapacity to do stuff (like ride my horse) for 3 days results in extreme low mood and I have to force myself out. Until bad cramping day is over, I can excuse myself, but after that I just have to motivate. It really pisses me off.

I am having bloods in a fortnight, and after that I think I will see about an ablation.

I find it's only the first two days. Nausea always the first day. If I push too hard I WILL puke. I have always been that way even as a teen. I only take any kind of painkiller once at that time of the month. I don't like them though because they make you dopey. But what can you do?
