Smiles per miles

Was driving home yesterday and just got to thinking which car out of every car I have owned/driven had me grinning from ear to ear.
I would say it was my mates Honda s2000. Loved everything about the car. How tight it was, the insane rev range, the sound, very driver focused cockpit and so comfortable for what it was.
What car has given you the most amount of smiles per mile ?

A 280bhp turbo starlet, it was like a little go kart, so much fun to drive!

Supergurrier's focus! Wheels were spinning in 3rd gear and I was grinning like a loon:)
Dgt's 406 turbo. Accelerating far faster than any 406 ever with a cloud of black smoke behind me.

And George Dalton's S4 there appears to be no end to it:D

The one I have now, and for the last nine years. A great big lazy barge with more power and torque than 90% of cars on the road. Many's the Fast'n'Furious merchant and 'Felty Vag (Honk!) client has been left dreadfully embarrassed by some middle-aged wanker in some sort of two-ton sofa who doesn't even know he's there. Soundproofing, chief! :)

Alfa 156 2.4JTD.. The torque was pure addictive.
    Worst...mistake....ever... scrapping that.

My old 320ci that I sold about 3 years ago. It was mint and had every extra that was available.
I'd buy it back in a heartbeat if I knew who owned it now.

It has to be the RX.... by dint of being the only car I've ever owned.

It can put a lot of miles through fairly quickly, with a lot of smiles in the process. It's very hard not to put a lot of miles on it quickly...... and lots of fuel in the process.

    It'll probably kill me.

Subaru Forester Premium. Loved that car.

I'd have to say my current A6... 2 years later and it still makes me smile every day .. comfort, toys and plenty of go-power.

(That said, I'd trade her for her bigger sister tomorrow if I had the cash and found one to suit :))

What engine was that biko? SG model or SH?

Mainly for the opportunity to throw in a model designation that ISN'T a BMW model number...

When it comes to handling and a purpose-built sports car, the RX8 I had wins.

For power, acceleration and torque (still with great handling) my current 335i.

    MX5 turbo, perfect car, super light, 200+ hp on < 1000 kilo's = a perfect combination

My Bora followed by my S3 but the Bora wins hands down.

Out of all cars I owned and I drove, the best miles per gallon was still my good olde Mx5 10th anniversary edition. God I miss that car. I miss it even worse, because all of my friends buying them Ffs! Even when my scooby is now out until Thursday due to ****ed bearings, I got my friends Mx5 as a loner for today... Makes me want just go to nearest Mx5 on donedeal and just throw money at it even if it will mean I will be eating spuds for the next 3 months...

Never owned a car to fit in this category but 2 i drove that I really enjoyed were an s3 and new a6.

The wall of torque 530d was fun but the current e36 is fantastic.
I just go out and drive it most evenings because i get a want to!
That's after a 70 mile commute daily too.
    I love it.

Sorry, I don't even think 1000bhp in a Bora make me smile.
Fair play for the project, but you should have put that engine in a VR6 Golf, Corrado or even newer Jetta!

My Type R Integra DC2. God I miss that car every day. The thing went like a rocket, was cheap to run and the Recaro seats were so comfortable but must of all. When you hit VTEC, that sound.... pure happiness.

Drove friends Honda crx vtec one last week. No power steering and vtec in 800kg shell. Really scary, but very exciting :D. I love turbo sound, but I have to admit, "vtec kicked in yo" sound is fun too.

Why would i take a VR engine that VW spent a lot of effort putting into the car out of it only to put it in a car that already had a VR enigne with an inferior chassis?

I don't think 1000bhp in a bora would be enjoyable at all, quite scary in fact, but i know a lap of the 'ring, a blast down the M7 or a backroad in my car and your opinion would be changed pretty quickly.

However this topic is about what made you smile not others, what's your smiles per miles car ?

Yep, sorry, I realise I sound like a príck with my post, but my hate for the Bora is immensly strong. I do admire a good project car though. Fair play.
Mine isn't one I owned, missed that boat by accident, regretted since. NSX. Will never afford one now!

You have to disregard almost every other 'felt spec Bora on the road over here when it comes to the one i had lol, two completely different animals, almost akin to the differences between a TDI RS4 and a real RS4 :D

Test drove a friends Evo II a few years back, some car! I do have a little 93' civic coupe 1.5vtec 140bhp model locked away for the past few years. Its a cracking car to drive and I'm in the process of putting it back on the road. Needs all new bushings, CV boots and new exhaust. It will be a weekend car when I'm done.

    My MR2 Roadster.
whatever it is about that car it causes people to come over and talk to me and the wife. All ages, men and women. Yesterday this old guy walked up to us as we sat in the sun. He started talking about the car and then out of the blue told my wife she reminded him of a regular passenger he had on his old C.I.E route back in the '80's. Turned out it was my wife's grandmother. That was in the north side of Dublin, we met him in Wicklow.
Told this story before on boards. In one of the worst rain storms I can remember I saw this lad drenched to the skin. He came over to where I was parked and knocked on the window.Everything about this kid made me believe he was a druggie. I rolled down the window and expected to be asked for odds. He just said he loved the car and wished me well.
I asked him where he was going and it was a local estate so I told him I'd give him a lift. All the way he kept saying thanks and this was all anyone wanted, someone to do them a good turn and "not get yer teeth kicked in every time you go out the door" When we got to his door he turned and asked for one last favour. Would I beep the horn as he wanted the neighbours to see him getting out of the car. Never had a negative thing said to my face :) Oh, and lastly it was the car I promised myself I'd buy if I was ever able to walk again after breaking my neck and being told I'd be in a wheelchair.
