game probably deserves a thread of its own if Galway and Dublin can have one!!!

Massive game for both teams. Be very interesting to see if Waterford can back up there NHL win and on the other side see if cork learnt there lessons from the defeat.

Championship is a different kettle of fish and like most cork Waterford games in the recent past I expect a real close contest.

Going for Cork to win by 3

    Harnedy out, Cronin in.

Tough one to call this. Cork have put in a couple of awful recent displays, but as others have said Championship is a different story.

Good save from Nash. 7 wides from Waterford already!!

7 wides in less than 12 minutes for Waterford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

Stupid wides as well. No where near.

Some awful waste of possession by both sides. Too much room in the middle for cork players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Possibly on course for a record number of wides the way both sides are shooting.

I think so far this is the best weve seen from Cronin in about 3 years. Murphy playing well at wing back too, very tidy.

Some seriously brain dead hurling from both sides. Crazy shooting going on. Austin Gleeson has 4 wides hit already from centre back, serious hurler but needs to be a lot cleverer with the ball and not be always looking for the hero scores.

Feeling very smug as a Galway man after watching how cleverly our forwards created and finished chances yesterday evening. Definitely nothing like the same quality of forward play going on in this game.

First score for Waterford from play in the 24th minute.

That point nearly as good as the goal!

Brilliant brilliant goal, hopefully it will kick start the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

What a goal and the point afterwards was brilliant too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Another brilliant finish.

Lovely finish for the 2nd but Good Lord the marking.

Another...intensity stepping up a few gears

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

That really should have been a 3rd Waterford goal. Moran messed up the pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Waterford plan for the second half - only allow to shoot for goals from play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

I thought Dan was going jump into the middle of it there.

Same amount of wides as scores. Shocking

Yeah and there were a couple of effort short and saved as well.

However a lot of those poor efforts were in the first half of the first half so hopefully it was just the teams settling.

Some excellent moments mixed with some very average play. More composure needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,206 ✭✭✭letowski

Waterfords stickwork is impressive, especially from deBurca, whos a cracking young player. Whether they win this game or not the longer they are in the c'ship the more accurate their play will be and nobody would fancy playing them.
Enjoyed the end to the half, should be a good 2nd. Cummins is calling it well, jbm is taking a huge gamble at the back going man to man. They are playing fairly well, but theres more goals for Waterford though and hardly any for them. I think it could sink them.

First seriously competitive championship match this season. Very enjoyable. Austin Gleeson (despite the wides) is playing very well.

Surely Nash should've been carded for throwing the hurley for the first goal?

When is Hawkeye due to be ready in Semple?

Seriously lack of creativity in Cork. Lobbing ball into the square and the likes of Connors are gobbling it up.

The only frees the ref is giving are to brick Walsh!!!!

    Cork backs not good enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Much better shooting from Waterford making the difference - only 1 wide so far in the 2nd half by my count and 9 points scored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

    Both Cork midfielders subbed off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

I love Dan. He is bonkers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

That's Austin fella is going to be some serious hurler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,672 ✭✭✭ScummyMan

Luke O'Farrell you fool, letting your team down.

    He already is unbelievable.

No replay of the red card incident either.

That's all she wrote. What a pass for the goal.

4 minutes injury time but only one minute in the Clare game.

Delighted for Maurice Shanahan. He's had a rough few years.

Waterford had 7 wides in less than 12 minutes and then had 7 wides in the remainder of the match.

A serious chunk of Cork's 1-20 came from deadballs which is never a good sign.

Better team won, fair play to them. Now to hope Tipp get there and beat them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

Cork are too old school. Same tactic through the game. Never changed it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Waterford deserving winners. Started slowly but never panicked.

Defended extremely well and cork never threatened the Waterford goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Very Bored

Really good performance from Waterford. They were faster and sharper than Cork all over the field. I thought Austin Gleeson was key. To be honest, Pa Cronin kept Cork in it almost alone. Patrick Horgan did well from frees but from play there was only really Cronin. I would only question how much this was Waterford being very good and how much they were helped by Cork being poor. To be honest, Cork were slow, and I doubt that will be true of the opposition whoever Waterford play in the Munster final.

That's the way hurling is gone. It's a red card. The red card today would have been a yellow 5 years ago.
