    Anyone availed of this service.

A family member ha a mamo there week ago and got a call back letter for Tuesday. She, like us, is crapping it.

Many say it could be because of poor image on the mamo.

She was with her doctor yesterday to get a prescription renewed. She asked her and she said that she received a letter saying she had been recalled but it didn't give a reason, and normally it does, so this has reassured her slightly.

Anyone any experience of being recalled? It's a long wait until Tuesday.

I wasn't recalled, but I did have to wait a while after being done last Tuesday, which no one else did. I would have larger than normal breasts and they were waiting to check the images were OK (as in visible). Of course I thought it meant they had 'seen something'.
Got the letter today saying there was nothing of concern.

It may well be that the images just need to be retaken.

    Thanks spurious,

So hoping that is what it is...

My relative did say she felt things were very rushed the last day - lots of appointments, so perhaps they didn't get a good image of them.

Still it would be better for them to say this than put patients through the worry

Screening letters for recall can never be detailed. Even ones which reassure people are a bad idea because people would then freak out over what their ones didn't say.

It may well be nothing, but they definitely will not even hint at anything bad in anything less than a face to face visit. It's just more human.

I hope everything's ok in the end. Best you can all do now is rest, try to relax as best you can and remember when going back that you're going to some truly excellent people who will give you nothing less than the best care possible. :)

Unfortunately, my relative was recalled and they found something in the scan. Very small but treatable. I suppose she is lucky that she was called when she was, as no lump was palpable

It's the goal of all the national screening programs - find something as early as possible.

Best of luck to your family member, she's in good hands. :)
