€1.49 per 500ml bottle in Lidl at the min, and it's pretty decent beer.

At 6% it's strong enough , but has a nice crisp taste to it, in fact it could easily be mistaken for a much lower abv%.

Anyone else tried it, is so what's your opinion?

Might stock up for the weekend now before it's gone.

The Argos strong stuff is quite nice too.

It's 7.2% so packs a bit of punch.

Yeah, imo it beats tyskie, lech, and zywichec(prob spelt wrong) hands down.

Had a few bottles last night again. Extremely clear head in.the mornings too.

I'm looking to visit Gdansk at the end of the summer, bit of a business venture over there, so will prob spend a few nights, looking forward to it now.

On another note, now sold out in my nearest lidl, dam

Got a few fans.of some beer called 'Tatra' very impressed with it too.

Lomza is a similar strength (5.7%ABV) beer available in Dunnes for €7 for four bottles at the moment (works out at €1.75 a bottle) and is definitely the nicest Polish beer I've had to date, although I haven't had a chance to try the Argus Gold yet. Comes in three different variants too - regular, unpasteurised and (my favourite) unfiltered.

I've been stocking up on it in recent weeks as it's a most delicious way of making sure of always getting the shopping up to the €50 mark to use and receive the €10 vouchers!

+1 for lomza (export) but I like all three
they had it at 6 for a tenner up till a few months back
cant fault it at all and tastewise I'd have it on par with the argus gold myself

Yep, it was better at six for a tenner but I definitely don't complain at paying an effective price of about €1.40 a bottle (allowing a 20% discount for using a shop & save voucher)!

Lomza and Zywiec are the only genuine Polish beers sold in Dunnes and Tesco (Lech and Tyskie being just Miller brands brewed in the UK for the UK/Irish market) but Zywiec is a good deal more expensive.

I hope Lidl Ireland consider making bottled Argus a regular addition to their line-up!

Yet, tragically, if and when the Minimum Pricing legislation is processed, this will cost approx €3.50 a bottle – so enjoy it while you can

    Hi!
Opposite the Gdansk if you take a ferry you can visit nice place called Hel Peninsula, really nice beach is there.

    Wikipedia:
The width of the peninsula varies from approximately 300 m near Jurata, through 100 m in the most narrow part to over 3 km at the tip. Since the peninsula was formed entirely of sand, it is frequently turned into an island by winter storms. Until the 17th century the peninsula was a chain of islands that formed a strip of land only during the summer.

A road and a railroad run along the peninsula from the mainland to the town located at the furthest point, Hel, a popular tourist destination. Other towns, ports, and tourist resorts are Jurata, Jastarnia, Kuźnica, Chałupy, and Władysławowo.

Sorry I cant post the photos as I'm a new user. But really worth to visit.

    Enjoy the Hols!

    Enjoy the Hols!

Went there last year for a holiday, Chalupy, for a week. It is about an hour from Gdansk by car and is a nice place to go for young families. Lots of activities like wind-surfing, kite-surfing, jet-skis, the beaches are really nice and it is nice and warm too.

Slightly off topic I know, but they do sell nice Polish beer there too... my favourite is Lech Pils, which is only sold in/around Poznan.

Picked up a few cans of Argus Strong there, sign says "while stocks last" - anyone know how much it usually costs, if the current price is only a special offer? And any Lidls in Dublin city still have a decent amount left?

Hopefully the Scottish whiskey industry win their EU court battle against minimum pricing. If they do then the proposed legislation will be nothing more than huff and puff from our betters in government

I wouldnt count on it. The Government put a minimum pricing on cigarettes for health reasons before and the EU declared it illegal. But if the Government increased taxes, so the cigarettes were the price of the false floor the Government wanted to create. it wouldnt have been illegal

Must check this stuff out. I want to start getting stronger stuff that still tastes good and doesn't burn a hole in my wallet. I'm drinking this Polish beer called Lomza at the minute, its similar to Tyskie and Lech. It can be nice chilled but never mix it with another beer. That's when the "fun" begins :(
