Leicester players in racist sex orgy

From today's Sunday Mirror. An aberration or typical attitudes amongst young men with too much money?

Premier League stars' racist orgy shame caught on camera during Thailand end of season tour

"Leicester City budding stars, including boss Nigel Pearson's son, were filmed taking part in a vile orgy in which a local girl was racially abused in Bangkok.

It was supposed to be a Premier League club’s end-of-season tour to promote goodwill in the homeland of its proud Thai billionaire owners. But three of Leicester City’s budding stars blew that apart with a vile orgy in which a local girl was racially abused soon after the team arrived in Bangkok.

As team boss Nigel Pearson prepared for a week of helping to cement relationships between the UK and Thailand and boosting his club’s growing Far East fan base, his defender son James, 21, and pals Tom Hopper, a striker, and goalkeeper Adam Smith, 22, had other ideas."

If your going to do stuff like this at least had the common sense not to tape it.For sheer stupidity alone they should all be sacked.

As Jimbo Jones said "Videotaping this crime spree is the best idea we ever had"

I know the details probably aren't out, but how did they racially abuse her while they were having sex? I assume it was consensual or the papers would've ran with gang rape.

Are you asking if the racial abuse was consensual?!

Um, by having sex with her while making racist comments?

    Having sex doesn't preclude racism.

It's a pity they can just be sacked. A good beating would be nice too.

Well making a presumption here but with them being in Asia I'm sure while videoing it they made reference to Thai girls background. It could be sensationalist or it could be then actually racially abusing the girl. More than likely an escort aswell I'd say

Having seen a clip of the video, they are not Premier League players and lucky to be even reserve team players. I would say 18-19 years of age

Too much money? The hookers only cost a few quid and any skanger with a clean criminal record can get to Thailand now a days.

    No the sex.

I just watched the vid on the Mirror. What was said that was racist? Sound quality is awful but I didn't notice anything

To me it looked like 3 guys with a couple of hookers, which is no longer that shocking in today's footballing world.

Just pretty surprising she'd have sex with them if they were so racist. Though I suppose it could've been a prostitute who needed the money.

They don't deserve a beating, they've probably ruined their chances of being pro footballers, living with the knowledge that it's all your doing, that's punishment enough imo

All indications are the sex was consensual.

Ugly behaviour by all three. Stupid as well recording it and sharing it with their friends. I guess they really didn't see any problem with the racial abuse. The club owners will have all three gone, and the remaining Leicester players are probably going to have to sit through hours of racial sensitivity training.

Tbh, if all they did was have sex with hookers and make the most childish racial slur their teenage minds would concoct, it would be incredibly harsh to sack them.

Haul them over the coals but don't ruin their careers.

The owners aren't going to see it like that. Its not going to be put to a public vote, the owners will see that and they will take it personally. And I don't have any sympathy for the players - ugly, stupid behaviour gets its own reward.

It highly unlikely their careers will be dramatically affected by being let go by Leicester. They may have to drop a division or two but there's plenty of clubs in football who wont care if their players are decent human beings, or what they get up to so long as they do the business on the pitch.

I'd say now that girl would do anything if the price was right, God love her.

She may not be in a position where she can criticise racism, but we are. I still think a very good beating would be appropriate. Because obviously they are complete and utter scumbags.

I'd say ruin their careers. At a minimum. If they could be prosecuted, I'd fire that in too. They are racists, am I supposed to be concerned about their livelihood?

Well, we don't know how the owners will see it. And yes, racism is awful but let's teach them that. They will be publically villified and so they should be. The suggestions of sacking and beatings, as some have on here, seems way out of proportion to the crime.

Isn't Leicester owned by a Thai group? Not the brightest behavior by the lads. Unless their careers have some value to the club they'll be let go.

Making a singulat racist comment does not make somebody a racist. That is black and white thinking. It makes them an idiot and possibly a nasty piece of work at this stage of their life, not some irredeemable monster that we have to keep a label on forever.

    No the sex.

Your post was worded quite oddly!

What happened to those sexual awareness courses that footballers were supposed to be taking?

If racism is involved that's a different story

Total gob****es the 3 of them. I'll be astonished if they are still at the club next season

That is a very valid point. In this day of twitter and so on, they can very quickly identify who amongst them was the racist and state their stance on it. If one of then comes out and accepts it was awful, it might mitigate the position.

Your way of thinking is similar to the US war on drugs, ie. ineffective. So rather than try to teach these teenagers the error of their ways and to 'rehabilitate' them so that there won't be repeat instances of this, you'd rather have their lives ruined. Who's more likely to reoffend the person who was treated well in society or the person who was treated badly?

Furthermore it's a singular comment, I haven't seen the video but presumably they were drunk. It's an idiotic thing to do, but young people do idiotic things all the time. Put your pitchfork away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,895 ✭✭✭✭Sand

Well, we don't know how the owners will see it.

Given they were racially abusing Thai girls in Thailand on a club tour to promote goodwill in Thailand, whilst the owners are themselves Thai I think we can have a pretty good idea how the owners will see it. Sacking three nobody players isn't really a cost to them.

And yes, racism is awful but let's teach them that. They will be publically villified and so they should be. The suggestions of sacking and beatings, as some have on here, seems way out of proportion to the crime.

Seriously - they're grown men. They don't get a "I didn't know racism was bad" excuse.

The only thing that's OTT is the beatings. But getting sacked after dragging your employer's image through the mud is perfectly normal. Happens in any job. Its one thing to be a dickhead in your own private time, but they recorded it and distributed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Did anybody actually read the article? One used the term sliteye and the other 2 laughed. All massively sensationalized by a tabloid. All the video really proves is how stupid they were to film and share the whole thing.

I've looked at the pitchfork, I've looked into my soul and pondered.

And I still think a good beating for these scumbags is appropriate. Possibly because, even as a teenager, I would never have thought of hiring an escort and then racially abused her. Racism is just something that makes my blood boil.

Sacking is fair enough, it'll be a lesson learned. But people pushing for their lives to be ruined and that they are scum not worth anything is just going too far. As has been said, making a racist comment does not make you a racist. Holding racist beliefs makes you a racist.

Getting blown by thai prostitutes? Methinks they're gonna have bigger issues than the threat of being let go by Leicester.

I don't think their lives will be ruined - I think they'll be a little embarrassed for a while, but they'll continue their careers with another club if they have anything to offer. Most football clubs and most football fans couldn't care less about players engaging in that sort of behaviour so long as they keep it quiet and perform on the pitch.

I don't think sacking is appropriate here. Players don't get sacked for committing acts of racism while actually performing their job.

Key players who are important for the teams success on the pitch don't get sacked for acts of racism on the football pitch. They get defended to the hilt by the club no matter how embarrassing it gets for the club.

Bit part players hanging around the reserves on the other hand don't have that protection.

She is probably having sex with about 20 guys a day. I think a few comments are the least of her worries. We have all done stupid things in our life that if were recorded might ruin our life's.

Yeah, but that's not how the world works. Players like John Terry and Luis Suarez were always going to be backed by their clubs and fans as they were key players that cant be easily replaced. Three nobodies from the reserves/youths...you could sack them Friday and have them replaced by Monday.

The other key difference would be that in the above cases, the racism issue was academic to the clubs. The clubs would officially say it was bad, mmmkay but they weren't really offended or bothered by it. It was racial abuse or insults of other people - not them.

In this particular case, the players are calling Thais slit eyes whilst a Thai billionaire owns the club who pays them. They're clearly going to be offended by that. It wont be academic for them.

BBC is reporting that LCFC is opening an investigation and wont make any comment until it is complete.

One of the players is Nigel Pearson's son. That's got to be awkward!

Can't compare what one club does to what another will do though. Racially abusing a woman from the same country as the owners while having an orgy during a trip organised to develop the club's brand in the country......well let's just say noone will be wearing t-shirts in support of that.

They were exploiting poor women for sex and all people care about is that one of them said a naughty word that may have hurt her feelings.

I'm as against racism as the normal Joe Soap but some of the anti-racism crowd have zero perspective. They have no rational thought process when it comes to a racist comment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

It seems that prostitution is legal in Thailand (rightly or wrongly)

So maybe the main issue is the racist comment

Their overall behaviour was ugly (very clear they had no empathy whatsoever with the women as human beings). But the thing that will get you sacked by the Thai owner of your football club is calling Thais slit eyes, recording it and then sharing it with the world, embarrassing your club and angering the man who pays the bills.

Its the footballers who have zero perspective as they recorded their ugly behaviour and shared it proudly.

Hard as it is to believe, it's actually illegal. What I don't get is footballers' penchant for this kind of sexual activity-when I'm ever lucky enough to pick up a woman I don't invite my workmates back to the room to record it and 'have the bantz.' The owner of Leicester and King Power is a massively corrupt crook btw, like every other rich person in that country.
