Burn Fat and Build Muscle

    Hi, I'm 5'11 and 71.2 kg's.
I'm inexperienced when it comes to the gym so I'm looking for some advice with regard what to do.

My main goal is to burn fat. I'm not overweight but I want to get rid of the fat around my stomach. I understand you can't work on particular areas of fat so I would like advice with regard to some workouts I could use in order to achieve this goal.

Does anyone have any advice regarding some potential exercises or workouts I could use in order to burn fat? That is my main goal, but I would also like to build some muscle.

My priority would be to cut down my body-fat but I would also like to put on some muscle. Would it be best to do one of these at a time or do both at the same time?

Finally, I'd appreciate any advice or feedback anyone would have regarding potential workout routines for fat burning.

    Thanks a lot!

Dietary changes will have a far bigger impact on body fat than exercise. You should do both, but eating a better diet which results in a calorie deficit is what will drop body fat.

You don't tell us anything about yourself, what are your stats like (age, sex, weight, height etc). Also tell us what a typical day's food is like.

    Typical day's food:

    Breakfast: 2 Wheetabix with milk

    Lunch: Chicken breast and chips.

Dinner: Chicken fillets / Fish / Steak (depending on the day) with Chips or potatoes

Late in evening: bar of chocolate and pint and a half of milk

So the good news is that your current diet is sh1te, so by making some simple changes you will see a difference.

Also you are young, so look at the big picture, Rome wasn't built in a day but by the time you're 22 you can be built like a tank if you desire, and bang all the Romans

    So you have 2 options.

Option A: Do a cut = slowly reducing your bodyfat + learning about nutrition + learning about gyming

Option B: Do a Bulk = slowly add weight to your body in the form of mostly muscle + learning about nutrition and gyming.

Now since you aren't carrying much fat Option A would be best. If you did a nice slow cut from now until August losing about 1 pound per week you would have a nice lean starting point for Option B.

And while you are slowly cutting you are keeping note of your workouts and your calories and getting a good hold on how many calories you can eat and still lose the 1 pound. You will also get stronger during this phase and since u are a beginner you may put on a small bit of muscle even while losing fat.

    Then September/October arrive and
    You are lean
    You know your calories
you know how to gym, what work for you and how to judge progress
    you begin your slow bulk
you become ruler of the world

just get started on a simple program that gets you squatting, lunging, deadlifting, hitting some press ups, pull ups etc

You are actually quite underweight IMO but if you have done very little training and nutrition is way off then your potential for progress is high
