Tonight sees the final Late Late Show of the season.

    bill-oherlihy-2.png

Central to tonight's show will be a tribute to the late Bill O'Herlihy, who passed away last Monday at the age of 76.

Joining Ryan Tubridy will be John Giles, Liam Brady and Eamon Dunphy.

"Bill was very important to people in RTÉ and to me personally," said Tubridy.

"He was a lovely man, very warm and encouraging. He was on the show many times. We’re looking forward to remembering him, but with a laugh as well, as he was a very humorous man."

From the sublime to the ridiculous...

Four Irish celebrities will be competing in a dance competition, which is (at least) for charity.

Dermot Bannon will be dancing Bollywood style for Barnardos; Majella O’Donnell will be doing the jive for Arc Cancer Support Centres; George Hook will be dancing the Charleston for the IRFU Charitable Trust and Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh will be doing the salsa for Bumbleance.

The whole thing will be judged by Rory Cowan, Monica Loughman and Louis Walsh

One for the Bill stuff, one for the other ****e.

Ah, that's not fair, it could be fun.

There could very well be tears round here for Bill. Jesus, there nearly was when all he did was retire.

I was listening to an interview Billo did with the Second Captains after he retired, he said Gaybo and Parkinson were great because they listened and that some interviewers go in with a set agenda and don't let things flow (remind you of anyone) and that someone might make a comment and if you push them on it you might provoke an interesting conversation.

He also said Darragh Maloney is a superior presenter and no one will remember him a in a years time.

It's sad that he didn't get to enjoy his retirement more, but at least he left on his own terms and he got to see how much everyone appreciated the work he did over his long and legendary career.

€50k in cold hard cash to win too from national lottery, hopefully they didn't spend an additional €50k to send some has been or soon to be Boyband to a bank vault to show us the cash for real.

Good to see Tubs dressed in his lounging about the house gear earlier...

My partner applied for tickets to the Lls and received an email today saying she got 2 tickets to the special season finale on 29 May. Email also states black tie attire. Does all emails say this or is this something different. I don't remember seeing anyone at any stage on the late late show wearing a tux. Don't own one and don't intend to either so any help be appreciated

Hi we have tickets for this show also, I was wondering what was with the black tie attire statement.

Hopefully there will be some decent audiance giveaways if it's a "special show" (so they quote)

Bill was only buried today, it will be emotional for the amigos.

But I am glad they are doing a decent tribute to Bill. He was much loved and many of us felt like they had lost a friend when they heard the bad news.

Is that Tubs? What is the point of the dancing in the show? Have they simply run out of topics to cover?

Watching this for 1st time in ages. Only reason is Bill, looking forward to seeing the tribute for him. His loss hit me hard earlier this week, as a few others said this week it was like losing a family member. Heartbreaking news to hear.

Did they do a singing competition for charity a few years back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

I don't like this "who's the best charity?"

It's like Tesco wanting you to choose which local school gets a donation, by putting a blue token in their slot. Nasty.
