Hey guys im just curious if an Irish person is ddosing people/sites would they be traced down and arrested?

i know in USA the FBI look into this stuff and the UK have someone aswell. But do Ireland?

So pretty much my question is , is it easy to get traced down and arrested and is it even legal?

It's definitely not legal and yes it very much possible to be traced.

That doesn't mean people don't launch DDOS attacks from Ireland, but while they personally be physically located in Ireland, the DDOS attack would generally not originate here.

DDoS attacks are certainly not legal and are taken seriously by law enforcement agencies in most countries, far as I know.

If a home network was taken down would much be done?
Or a website such as www(DOT)dothebouncy(DOT)com for example?

    Why are you asking?

DDosers use botnets on pcs which may be anywhere ,
    in any country,
eg old pcs running windows xp ,which are not patched with the latest security updates .
there have been ddos attacks from china on websites like github that host programs used by activists to evade censorship .

If you have to ask, you shouldn't be going within a hundred miles of it. You most definitely can be traced, and if the site owner has any sort of persistence, you will be caught.

Oh, and targetting a Rangers FC fan site? What are you, 12?

It doesn't really matter tbh. If it's so that they can launch one themselves you wont find anyone admitting that so we should just roll on with the conversation. :)

is it easy to get traced down

    Yes, it's extremely easy.

First, the law enforcement in whatever jurisdiction hosts the site you target will do a google search for "ddos" and the name of the site that you target. Considering you have posted it here they will find this thread pretty quickly.

Next, the Gardaí will get your IP address from boards.ie. From this they will find out who your ISP is, who in turn will give them your name and address, and potentially quite a lot of your browsing history.

Then all they have to do is turn up at your door and invite you around to their place for tea, biscuits and interrogation.

So unless you're really stuck for tea and biscuits, it's probably not worth it.
