Premier League season is starting on Saturday 8th August.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,284 ✭✭✭DubPerryman

I'm expecting these to start soon, sure the league kicks off in 4 weeks!

July 30th - MLS All Stars

    August 4th - Real Madrid

Surprising that we play a friendly a few days before the first match of the season.

Nathan Oduwa seems to have dominated in training ground friendly against Southend.

Lamela, Soldado, Bentaleb, Rose and Townsend were all playing.

    Keen as mustard.

Didn't he do a pile of extra work in pre season last summer after the injuries of his first season.

Video is worth a watch. Bentaleb teaching Townsend how to shoot from distance.

I read that and thought "Townsend doesn't need more reasons to shoot from distance", but then i realised what you actually meant :P

Who is Oduwa? Seems like he played quite well.

The fact that all the deadwood midfielders were sold must be good news for him.

Just thinking, with us playing in the Audi Cup, this will be the first season that we start the season without a season-opening home friendly before the PL starts. :(

Yep, good stuff, thought he was in trouble when we hadn't seen him, glad he's in the mix. We really do appear to have some good young players on the up which we will hopefully see plenty of this season especially in Europe.

Spurs face the All-Stars on Thursday 30 July at 02:15 (UK time).

The clash will be held at soccer specific stadium Dick's Sporting Goods Park, which is home to the Colorado Rapids.

    Where to watch?

Fans will be able to watch the game live on Sky Sports 1.

Sky Sports are no longer showing the match live but fans in the UK and Ireland can watch every second of the action from Colorado via a stream on Spurs TV.

Highlights are on the SSN football app.

Won't spoil it for anyone who is waiting to watch the full match later

This is another nail in what my opinion is an anti spurs campaign by Sky. Ever since Redknapp has been sacked Sky seem to have changed their stance on Spurs.

Anyone watch the game? I see we lost 2-1.

Well the second half side we had out was quite young and their goals came from kaka and David villa. So there was that!

Didn't watch it though as was in work.

That sounds like a bit of a conspiracy theory. We're almost on Sky too often throughout the season and this was a poxy match during the silly hours. They probably had to pay stupid money to show it live to a tiny audience, when they can just show the replay when everyone is out of bed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,072 ✭✭✭mass_debater

I read that the average age of the second half lineup was 20.2 years. Didn't see it but read that it was a good performance considering it's the first game after a long break

Shouldn't take long for Trippier to oust Walker. Kane could of had a hat-trick. A proven striker is a must before the transfer window closes.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Watched the highlights, which were short enough. Kane missed a few chances, but scored a pretty good goal as well. Defense looked a bit weak for their 2nd goal, and it was a definite peno for their first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭golfball37

I saw the second half and was quite encouraged. Passed it well and retained possession well, Tom Carroll is a super player imo.
We have no cutting edge though and need a striker, I've no faith in Kane I have to say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭Glebee

Only saw the hightlight but Kane scored a good goal I thought. First chance he missed was a bit of a sitter though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,133 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Would it be a shock if we didn't sign a new striker before the the window closes. No.

... it has happened before. Kane and Soldado till Jan and then we'll play over the odds for some piece of ****e or some 30plus journey man

    Stevange 0 v 2 Tottenham XI

I'm only putting this up because Nathan Oduwa (who's been very impressive in pre-season) went off with a suspected broken ankle.

He scored the first goal and apparently was running riot, before one of their players cleaned him out and broke his ankle. I feel bad for the lad, he had a good chance of breaking in to the first team for EL and League Cup games. I hope he recovers quickly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,133 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Balls to that. Was looking forward to seeing him get some action .

I was just about to comment on this.

Interesting that Poch started with him on that role. It's a real test anyway!

Alli looks like he's got a few nice touches and is a confident lad. I look forward to him getting game time this season.
