So Splatoon on Wii U is being released this Friday and this is the place for those that have the game and who want a bit of "friend redecorating".

50 Euro for just the game in Smyths and Gamestop, 55 for the Inkling Amiibo pack in Smyths (60 in Gamestop).

Nice to see the eshop price cheaper for once!

My 5-year old has been hounding me every day since the demo with "have you got that squid game yet?"... After 9pm Friday, it'll be me playing so see you guys online then.

Mine little one is 5 as well I'd say the bright colours will attract them too it. Doesn't bother me anyway only games she wants to play with me these days is minecraft and I'm sick to death of that.

Was in the same situation myself but rang the one in Naas and they took my name and number when they couldn't do it themselves.

If anyone wants a cheaper physical copy, Argos has it for €43 (no Amiibo bundle though). Also saw a huge poster for it in the Dundrum store so Nintendo is getting the word out at least.

Got my e-mail that my copy is waiting in Smyths, have to be in bright and early to maximize my splatting tomorrow (god bless days off work).

Played it for half an hour... first impressions are very good! The first multiplayer game took 2 minutes to join, so it was like there was only one game on in the whole world and I had to wait for it to finish before I could join. Hopefully that wait time will speed up after today.

Played the first single player mission too - standard opening level.

Yeah my first game seemed to take ages to join. Others after that were quick enough.

It seemed a bit unfair at the start, four or five people at level one and two against others at level 15 and 16.

I managed to crawl up to level four to get some new weapons, and eh, a hat.

I'm not entirely sure I love it to be honest. Could just be because I'm ****e though :pac:

Yeah, it was a bit of an ordeal to get my beloved Roller alright, I was among level 14 and 15's until i got to level 5, then I was with 4's and 9's.

40.99 in Argos actually! I have 50 in GS credit so will probably get it there instead.

I downloaded the demo but never got a chance to play it during any of the windows, but I was still offered the discount price on the eShop. Couldn't really say now, but when I get a chance to play it is another thing.

BTW, I missed out on the demo session - anyone care to teach me the basics?
I've done a tiny bit of digging online, so far I know to :
1. Make ink, not war - killing is only half the battle, inking is ALL the battle
2. Splat the Flat - horizontal surfaces are what are counted for team points
3. Live to Paint - if you're alive and the game ain't over, be painting something, from your spawn point to your grave. Every percent counts.
4. Why walk when you can <whatever squids do. Propulse?> - walking makes you slow and vulnerable and, if I'm following my own rules, run out of paint. The exact opposite of what happens when you're squidding around the gaff.
5. You will know them by the trail of the paint - if you're holding a choke point, you can see the bad guys coming by the way they're painting over your ink to make a path for themselves. And if you know your weapons, you'll be able to guess what they're carrying and respond accordingly

In inkopolis or any menu really, tap the options/settings purple tab on the gamepad, and touch motion controls.

Wow, it's much more fun than I expected. There was I wasting time on the single player instead of multi. Not very long waiting for games either, and I want all those big weapons!

Apparently standing still in your colour ink makes you invisible! Wouldn't have even guessed that.

Watching the videos, tracking a squid in ink is like watching a Predator run through a jungle - you see the disturbance more so than the target. Saw a good vid where it looked like a squid hid in a wall while a roller steamed through, jumped out behind him and double-duluxed to the head. Some of the stuff people are doing already with this games unique quirks are mad. I am going to get creamed online, I have no shooter skills and haven't played a multiplayer shooter this decade...

But the fun thing is you don't mind as the aim is not to kill people but paint so you always feel like you accomplished something unlike in COD where you can be killed before even seeing someone.

I've been playing myself, I just beat the first boss but I haven't tried an online battle. I wasn't so hot during the test fire but the first few levels really helped me get to grips with the mechanics.
