I've been using these tampons for over 10 years and recently I've noticed that Tesco has stopped selling them, and instead the have their own brand of 'lil lets knock offs'. I tried them bc they were cheaper than Lil-Lets but was very unimpressed by them (for TMI reasons!) Whats going on?

I usually buy Lil Lets in pharmacies, as there often are good deals on them! I think it's because women tend to be more likely to use applicator tampons (which I hate!), so they are harder to sell. That's just what I've noticed, no idea it's the case or not.

I actually bought the Tesco ones last week as I couldn't see Lil Lets. They don't bother me too much tbh, you get used to them! Luckily I just need regular ones. I just prefer the shape of Lil lets because it's what I grew up with. My favourite are OB tampons...can't get them anywhere here! :o

Another vote for OB. They are way better than anything else I tried with lilets being closest.

I don't know if Tesco stopped selling them but they did replace a lot of branded products with their own stuff through the years. You might have to buy them somewhere else.

I find OB great as well, but I only see them in pharmacists over here, they aren't sold in any of the supermarkets I go to.

I'm almost certain I spotted Lil Lets in my local Super Valu a few weeks ago OP, it could be worth having a look if you have one near you.

OB by far the best tampons. They're sold in supermarkets here but they're expensive - why are tampons so expensive?

    Taxed as a luxury item.

    VAT is 21 percent.
Not just in Ireland either, all sanitary products are taxed heavily across Europe.

    But suncream isn't. /shrug/

The standard rate is 23%, but in Ireland sanitary items are 0 rated goods.

I saw Lil-lets on sale in my local Dunnes Stores today, 2 packs for €4. Don't use them so not sure if they were the applicator or non applicator ones though.

    Aren't they a little treat though? :)

I'm feeling a bit blah. I think I'll treat myself to some luxury tampons to cheer myself up.

About as luxury an item as loo roll!

Love OB tampons the last time I saw them was on holidays in Portugal. They need to come to Ireland...

Ditto, got them in Spain and they were much better than anything on the UK/Ireland markets. I find the Morrisons own brand ones surprisingly good for 79p a packet though.

I had to get tampons in Portugal and they were total cråp. They didn't stay in!

Saw them in Dealz today, 32 pack of non-applicator lil-lets....think they are 2€ not the usual €1.49 though...plenty of stock and sizes

Best place for OB is German eBay. They come cheap and in bulk packaging. I re-supply myself every time I go home (where opposite to hear non applicator tampons are most popular).

    OB rulez! :)
