    Access to British tv channels and British programmes in general must take a lot of credit too. The soaps in particular normalised gay people for a population that didn't know any gay people.

    The change didn't just happen in the last few weeks, it started back in the 1980s and 90s.

    Oh they knew us but we were invisible. The casual normal ordinariness of our visibility now is one of the greatest things. And the range of lgbt people will normalize it more: we're not all drag queens! Some of us are so boring we've flown under the radar and the gaydar! Where's the accountancy forum now?
