So then the final home game of the season and essentially one with nothing riding on it. Liverpool are going to finish in an EL place and Palace are safe as houses.

The home side are missing Sakho, Sturridge, Flanno, Enrique with Balo a 'maybe'. Palace seem to be nearly full strength. Given the nature of the game I'd have be very happy to see a youthful bench - the likes of Brannagan, Ojo and Sinclair rather than packing it with summer transfers however I've read the U21s are in the Netherlands at a friendly tournament so that's unlikely.

    Cos you're all soft!

No mention of Gerrard coming on in the 89th minute for a quick goodbye til January?

    You're cold Harry, ice cold.

Won't somebody think of the kids :(

Oh wait, Harry always thinks of the kids.....the majority of which won't make it at the club!

You'll never win anything with kids.

Poor old Glen Johnson is totally being forgotten about in what is probably his last game at Anfield if he gets some game time today.

    Thanks for the memory Glen.

Good to see Stevie G go to be honest i think the entire leaving process has been played out a bit to long at this stage.

    Harry's a bottler.

Anyone watching Football Focus - top 5 Liverpool players - which is the best poll.

Hilariously biased result. Speaks of the lack of memory

I didn't see it but who votes on these social media polls only young people, most of whom will never have seen Keegan, Dalglish, Barnes, Souness et al

Ha I posted that in the wrong thread, but yes you're right - the SKY Sports generation would have dominated the polling.

Sure English top league football is only 23 years old and Gerrard has played in 17 years of it so he is going to rank near the top.

Im not too excited or emotional about this match.

    Liverpool to scrape it 1-0.

Nice match thread! What's the craic with the other team they're playing?

I actually think Palace are a decent bet today.

I think Liverpool will play today like there's something resting on it. It might take a while to break them down, but once we do, three nil.

2-1 win for the Reds. Coutinho and Gerrard with a peno.

The greatest player in the premier league history plays his last home game. It's going to be emotional.

3-0 LFC. Greatest player in PL history to score two and one from young Philippe, the current best in the league.

I can see Gerrard getting himself sent off so his last game won't be at Stoke.

Sliding tackle on Pardew ought to do it.

    Liverpool XI:

Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Can, Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling & Ibe

Ward, Johnson, Toure, Lambert, Lucas, Allen, Sinclair

Gerrard looks pleased at the striker free line up.

Fair enough our striker options are not great but surely better to play one.

2 2 draw. Gerrard to score a penalty.

You'd imagine with that starting 11 maybe gerard plays highest up in the 6 man midfield to get his final anfield goal.

I didn't know that they have a Bret Hart tribute at Anfield today?

David Jones is on about "the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be"

Will Gerrard play full 90 or will Rodgers take him so that he gets his ovation?
