What does it cost to put sheep onto another persons land for say three month during the winter,Due to lack of grass I am considering it for next year

Fencing is the biggest problem, very few cattle/dairy farms fenced for sheep.....or even cattle for that matter.
Not great for inlamb ewes to be ploughing through ditches

I put about 1 ewe to the acre over the winter on ground that has had cattle over the summer. Seems to work well.

€100 per acre is way over the top IMO, land is rented for a whole year for circa €200, not much grows from November to February.

Well that's what he gor. For last winter he wintered 400 lambs. They grazed for November and December. Then they were housed in sheds bedded and were fed nuts which were supplied by the owner and silage was provided by the uncle. They were on the farm until April. There was also 60 heifers wintered also. He got just over 5k for it

We away wintered sheep for november, december jan and feb, 140 acres, 6000 for 4 months fed 600 sheep, built a shed this year so wont have to take grass again, it was the biggest headache worrying about them all winter, big risk with dogs
