I want to start lifting. Serious lifting. My background is aerial sport. I train on a pole 5 times a week. I've lost a good bit of weight 2.5 stone and want to start recomping my body, cutting and fine tuning macros.
I've used glenroyal before, mostly on my own for the cardio and the weight machines and some light free weights. I've no experience of bar lifting in there. I always felt the weights space a bit intimidating.
I've no experience at all of Sphere.
Anybody any reviews. I want a place where I'll be supported, will feel comfortable, and will progress. I want to do well lifting so need the environment to be in tune with that.
    Thanks for all input.

Which aerial sport? Does this affect your lifting?
And what you you mean by serious lifting? Competitive powerlifting? (Olympic style) Weightlifting?

I've no experience of either, but the Sphere website is trying to sell expensive transformations and kitchen make overs with no mention of training or performance. And the glenroyal is a hotel leisure club gym. It probably has a lot more cardio and machines then free weights. But whether its has enough depends on what you are looking for.

I know the Glenroyal personally, and it has a lot of free weights, racks and machines, and is more than adequate for someone looking to train for strength.

I don't think they have bumper plates for weightlifting, but for anyone looking to get stronger, it's a very good gym.

I had a look at the website. Seen lots of dumbells, bench press, and I think a rack. So I'd agree, its plenty adequate to somebody wanting to start training with weights.
But it really depends on the OP definition of "Serious lifting"

It depends on the OP's definition yeah.

Alternatively Crossfit West Dublin might be an idea for the OP as they run weightlifting classes through the affiliate and their own weightlifting club. The group environment should be helpful too.

Just to clarify, I want to lift decent weights. I've used Dumbbells and have my own sets but now fancy bar lifting with, eventually, decent enough weights. I hoop and pole currently 6 times a week.

    What's decent?
